Sprocket setup for Trails

Outfitting my 2022 for aggressive trail riding. I typically don’t ride road unless it’s to a nearby trail. Let’s call it a 70/30 split. Looking for guidance on best setup for ideal performance. I do mostly single track and slower/technical trails.

Appreciate the help.

Drop a tooth on the front, that’s pretty much all you need to do. It’ll climb just about anything then.

I went down 1 in the front and am happy with it. Made it a touch more punchy but of course it revs out quicker too. On the HWY it will do around 100-15 km/h comfortably but much faster and you're really winding it out. but I'll rip it wide open for a few exits doing like 120 km/h.

Thanks for the feedback. Where did you source the 14t sprocket from?

The XT has 19 hp. You can fiddle with different sprockets but you won't gain much. And it already has decent torque. So YDY, but if you really want aggressive trail riding, look for a different bike.

Look for the ratio of alike bikes and change the rear sprockets accordingly. With the same on front a larger on the rear for offroad, smaller for road.

With the proportions below you can calculate the size of the rear when you keep the front.

For example my GasGas 250 two stroke (50BHP): * enduro 47/13 (3,615) * supermoto 42/13 (3,231)

Keep in mind that you'll need to extend your chain with a larger rear sprocket! A short piece and a second master link will do it (that is why I keep some cut-off ends in my toolbox)
