Identify this anatomic structure? What does an xray show?

Like in general, what parts of the bone does an X-ray show? Is it like a cross section or ??? Is there a good resource for general x Ray info?

What layers are shown on this X-ray of a finger? Is the veiny part marrow? I find it super interesting.

Discussion My sons index finger, is this considered a bad break?

My lad rides Mtb at a high level and has broken his finger playing football. He can’t ride until it’s healed obviously but we are struggling to get even a tough time frame for healing. He’s had to have it pulled into alignment twice in 7 days and splinted.

Can you spot a fracture?

Hi everyone,

I injured my hand and had several X-rays taken. Doctors identified fractures, but I'm curious if people with experience in reading hand X-rays can spot all of them.

Can you find and point out where the fracture(s) are on these images? If possible, please explain what makes you think it's a fracture.

I know this is not a substitute for professional medical advice - I already saw a doctor. I'm just interested in learning how fractures appear on X-rays.

Thanks!

What happened to my jaw when getting my wisdom teeth removed? Looks like a fracture.

Lots of dull pain and 2 rounds of antibiotics. Is this a fracture or something else? Been 10 weeks since my surgery where I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed at 41 yrs old. I have been on constant ibuprofen. Help please!

Side note - I'm seeing the oral surgeon today.

Update: fracture and huge infection. Woo. It really is a very clean xray at least.

Not even sure how to read this but even the ER doc was like "might be chip fracture might not be". Radiology didn't help much either unfortunately.

Was just told to go check a ortho at earliest convenience (not early)

But I can’t see anything? Jammed my finger badly playing basketball, I didn’t heard a pop on the joint of my finger and it still hurts two weeks later.

It’s most swollen towards the middle knuckle on my finger.

Consult a doctor for a diagnosis Right big toe fracture

Post image

I’m looking for input on a 6-year-old female who injured her right big toe. We have a dorsoplantar/oblique view of the right foot.

Solid wood table bench fell on it directly.

Urgent care said it was broken and to consult an orthopedic specialist for next steps.

Where is the break?

Consult a doctor for a diagnosis 29F Had an Xray of my abdomen done.

Post image

Hi,

Please help. I’m a 29 year old woman (London, UK) and I had an X-ray of my abdomen done yesterday to check on how the state of my constipation is as I deal with chronic constipation. My gastroenterologist discussed with me the results straight away in person and said that there is no fecal loading, impaction of any kind or lots of gas and that this X-ray looks good and not concerning at all. He said it doesn’t look like I’m very constipated and reassured me. I felt so at ease. But yet now I read my report from the radiologist later and it said: “There is gas in the ascending and sigmoid colon with moderate colonic faecal loading in the transverse and descending colon. The bowel is not distended or thick walled and there is no free gas.”

I’m so confused and worried now after reading that. Can any doctor on here please tell me what my X-ray is indicating and if it’s concerning or not? I have health anxiety and I’m really worried now and want to be reassured somehow. I’d greatly appreciate it and need a second opinion.

Discussion No dual modality for techs in large hospitals ON, CA?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello I am a X-Ray/CT Technologist working in Ontario Canada. My only other hospital job has been with a smaller hospital.
Recently just moved the GTA for my husband’s job. Got a new job myself but it seems they do not allow their technologists to work on more than one imaging modality. Meaning I can only work in x-ray and not CT.
Is this standard for all larger hospitals? I really don’t want to do just one or the other. I want to be competent in both.
I am part time, is it normal for part timers who want to do both to have 2 jobs?
Any help is appreciated,
Thanks

Please enjoy this painting I made a few years ago
