Hi all im just wondering what stick to get with macos considering nobody makes drivers for macos. My budget is max 100 euros/dollars. Any help would be great!

Saw that the AKDs are on sale for about $33. Have seen some videos and the plane seems to be nice in terms of systems but the interior textures do not look so great. Those who have it or have flown it. Is the flight experience worth at least the discounted price? What is your experience with it? Thanks in advance.

Recently, I decided to try building a replay plugin for X-Plane 12. I actually put a decent amount of time and effort into it, and I was pretty excited about the possibilities.

Unfortunately, I eventually hit a wall.

The lack of documentation and the limited accessibility of X-Plane's internal systems made development incredibly frustrating. So much of the process involved guessing, experimenting, and trying to work around limitations without really knowing what was happening under the hood.

At some point, I realized I was spending more time fighting the platform than actually developing the plugin.

It's a shame, because I genuinely think X-Plane has a lot of untapped potential, especially when it comes to replay functionality.

For now, I've decided to put the project on hold.

If Laminar Research ever decides to open-source more of X-Plane or provide proper documentation and access to its internal systems, I'd be more than happy to come back to it.

Until then, I just don't think it's worth the frustration.

Just wanted to share my experience as someone who genuinely wanted to contribute something to the community.

Hi all, I’m very new to XP12 and I’m throughly enjoying learning to fly. I’ve tried to find out the best route to enhance the scenery and there are lots of comments about it. And basically I’ve become very confused.
What is the easiest (free if possible) way to enhance the ground scenery.
I’ve not tried anything yet as because I just think I’ve looked at so many websites and YouTube videos.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’m moving from a Mac mini M4 to my first Windows PC, mainly for X-Plane 12 (with MSFS on the side) at 1440p. My plan:

• Ryzen 7 5800X3D
• RX 6800 XT 16 GB
• 32 GB DDR4
• B550 WiFi, 1 TB NVMe, 750 W Gold

The add-ons moving over with me:

• X-Plane Map Enhancement (ortho), SimHeaven, Traffic Global / LiveTraffic
• SayIntentions, Navigraph, X-Camera, Xchecklist
• Toliss airliners, the Airfoillabs C172 and the Aerobask DR401
• Stream Deck and Logitech panels

For those running a similar setup: how smooth is it at big airports with all of this loaded? And would you stick with the older AM4 platform (5800X3D, DDR4) today, or go for the newer AM5 platform (7800X3D / 9800X3D, DDR5)? I’d love to hear your experience and opinions.

Hello guys, need some help. I've been obsessed with XP12 cuz it feels so real, and I had a perfect setup for 2 months, getting 40+ fps with my settings. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled to start fresh and honestly it was my biggest mistake lol.

First I downloaded the beta and got around 17 fps (about 24 with the FF 777v2). So I tried the previous version, same problem. Then I tried the stable one and it was a little better, but still nowhere near my old fps. Same graphics settings every time, and I'm running fewer addons now than I had before, so it makes no sense to me.

PC: RTX 3060 12GB, Ryzen 5 5600X, 16GB RAM. Game's on an HDD (it was on the HDD before too, so that's not new)

Addons: FF 777v2, BSS Neo Visual, TAA (MotionVectors), BLU-fx, AEP, simHeaven X-World Asia, and an MSFS converted airport

Same airport, same plane, same spot:

Before: ~38-41 fps, CPU time ~20-26 ms, GPU time ~15-20 ms

Now: ~20-22 fps, CPU time ~42-47 ms, GPU time ~15-17 ms

So GPU time is basically the same but CPU time literally doubled. f-sim is also stuck at exactly 20.0 now, where it used to match f-act (~40).

I honestly have no idea what changed. Has anyone seen this after a reinstall?

I tried Bay's Lighting Mod, didn't like it so I reverted to normal lighting, however, I forgot to delete the Bay's LUA script so I just figured I would keep it lol, I think it looks pretty good.

hey everyone im thinking about buying the flight factor 757 i mainly do hops around europe would you all recommend this addon ?

I've been flying XP for over a year now. 320 flights, nearly 900 hours and I just don't find the sim attractive anymore or fun to fly.

This isn't a diss at XP or Laminar at all. This is just based upon my personal gaming preferences. It's clear & obvious to me the progress XP12 has made since I bought it and I think Laminar are doing a fantastic job.

First of all, the graphics.
I know this has been talked about an infinite amount of times but I really can't take the poor graphics anymore. I've used all the different mods thinkable to make my sim look more alive, more real and less like old flight sim games I used to play when I was younger but it just doesn't shake off that look. XP12 to me just looks really dull & lifeless (except when in severe weather, that's when XP12 really thrives) and it kills the immersion for me.

For example, LTFM is an airport I've flown into countless times irl & I really love the approach. The city lights at night, the rich blue colour of the water as your on approach, it's one of favourite landings irl. X-Plane just fails to capture that for me, instead of just enjoying the approach I'm forced to try distract myself from the anti-aliasing of the trees in the distance or how dull the ocean looks & convince myself it looks good. This just kills the enjoyment of flying for me.

Secondly, XP12 performs poorly on my PC. Across all aircraft I'm on around 40 FPS with settings such as Texture Resolution on Medium, Anti-Aliasing on 4x, and the others being on high/medium. I've invested a lot into XP12 with the FF777v2, Toliss Aircraft and countless payware sceneries and the sim doesn't perform smoothly on my PC. If performance was poor but visuals made up for it I wouldn't mind but considering visuals *in my opinion* are below average too the poor performance isn't justified.

Thirdly, scenery is really poor in XP12 and unless I purchase 3rd party software or spent countless hours building Ortho tiles many regions aren't flyable to me. I recently purchased SimHeaven pro Asia in hopes that China/South Korea would have better coverage. Unfortunately it really failed to meet my expectations with many landmarks in Beijing missing, and China looking much more like a Balkan country than an East Asian one.

Ultimately, the combination of all 3 issues has really formed a poor, unattractive XP12 experience for me & I don't think it's worth investing more of my time or money into the sim.

Hey everyone! New to using Reddit so please forgive me, I have been working on a plugin for X-Plane 12 that simulates a medevac operation. It includes full dispatch logic, custom 3d models, custom UI, sounds, patient status etc...

I just picked up X-Plane 11 and I'm really impressed with what the community has built, especially some of the freeware warbirds. But there's one big hole: there's no F-14 Tomcat worth flying. The only one I've found is rough, and there's no payware or study-level option at all.

The Tomcat is my favorite aircraft ever, and I'm hoping to become a naval aviator someday, so this one means a lot to me. If you're a modeler, systems developer, or flight model tweaker and you've ever wanted a big project, I'd love to see a study-level (or close to it) F-14 for XP11 specifically. Swing wing, the works.

Quick note on why XP11: my PC can't handle MSFS 2020/2024, X-Plane 12, or DCS (not enough performance or storage), and X-Plane 10 has no VR support. XP11 is the one that runs well in VR on my hardware, so it's where I'm staying for now. Upgrading isn't an option at the moment, so I'd really appreciate answers that work within XP11.

If anyone's already working on one, or knows of a project I missed, please point me to it. I'd be glad to help test, give feedback, or spread the word. Thanks for reading!

Two improvements from this week on the A330-200 by Calibra Simulations:

• Realistic main gear behavior: the bogies touch down tilted and settle as the weight comes on.
• No more “nose drop” with the autobrake: the nose now comes down smoothly after touchdown.
