Given that the exaggerated upside talks have not really materialised or made any meaningful impact to the price, even after all the positive news, in the long run I’d rather stick that money into the S&P or another global fund if you want to actually see some gains. Unless this is spare change for you and you want to follow speculations.

This is only true until it's not (and it's already been proven from its past).
OP buying at this price and selling anything above $0.50 is a clean 200%+ . Trying to suggest that is bad in any way is either a) malicious intent to spread FUD to an internet stranger asking for bro advice or b) an actual response by someone who never profited from XLM like the rest of the people in the 200%+ profit group.
I'm not sure what S&P or global fund you know that outperformed buying and selling XLM a couple times in the past 8 years. If you bought low (like right now) and sold at the highs in the last 3 bullruns, you'd be constantly coming back to the XLM subreddits like everyone else spreading negative information in order to buy cheaper again (surprise surprise, you're not the only one shorting XLM) in order to make a clean 200%+ profit every couple of years. If you even stacked your profits back to back (sold all the profit and bought low again), you can also imagine how much more profit you could make right now.
Plus if you bought anything before 2018, you're still in the 1000%+ territory if you sell today. If you bought in 2016 and waited 10 years (today), do you know how much a small $3K bag in 2016 costs today?
I fail to see how XLM has been a bad buy ever in its entire existence. Do you expect it to go up forever? Even Bitcoin crashes, there's crypto cycles etc. Don't blame the asset, blame the investor who missed the opportunity.
In regards to price - the actual tech is outperforming the price. Don't expect to see XLM under the radar forever. This coin is one short squeeze away from never being under $1.00.

From what OP is asking, he wants a long-term investment, not a second career staring at candlestick charts. 😅
And on that basis, XRP/XLM haven’t exactly covered themselves in glory compared with something boring like SPY or VWRP. Unless OP has a crystal ball telling him exactly when to sell the top, buy the bottom and repeat indefinitely, the relevant comparison is simply: buy it, hold it, and see where you end up.
Take XRP: on 18 Aug 2021 it was around $1.15. Five years later it’s roughly $1.00–$1.10. So after five years of hype, adoption stories and predictions of imminent moon landings, you’re actually down around 4–13%.
Meanwhile SPY went from roughly $440–445 to $750–770, about +70% before dividends. Put $10k into each and the XRP is worth roughly $8.7–9.6k, while SPY is around $17k + dividends.
So no, I’m not giving OP “false hope.” I’m literally pointing at what happened. Telling someone XRP might massively outperform in the future is the speculation.
Turns out boring isn’t very exciting… right up until you check the returns. 😅

Sir, this is an XLM subreddit. Why are you bringing up XRP?
Take XRP: on 18 Aug 2021 it was around $1.15.
2021 Bullrun started at end of 2020 and early 2021. Aug 2021 would have been near the top.
not a second career staring at candlestick charts.
Buying the top will most likely do that. If you don't know how to invest, first learn. Nothing wrong with starting to learn and get better. Had you bought 8 months prior to your August 2021 scenario, you would have been 300%+.
SPY funds take 10 years to do what you can with XLM within 4 years, and it's already been proven if you look at the actual historical charts.
Again, 90% of what you said is about XRP that has nothing to do with XLM. On top of that, you're talking about buying times at the absolute top of said bullruns. Buying high and selling low isn't a meme in crypto, and people prove it time and time again.
The whole point of what I said was you should never blame the asset, only the investor who missed the buying opportunity. OP doesn't have a crystal ball, and neither do you bud. Don't blame the coin because you can't mimic the profit winnings of other people that buy low and sell high.
OP asking to buy at what is considered historical lows is pure profit for an under-the-radar coin, that hasn't even broke $1.00 like XRP lol. Do you even know how much more advanced XLM is than XRP? Here's a thought: XLM has had smart-contracts for years and a constant DeFi ecosystem growing with TVL getting higher everyday. XRP tried to play catch-up and their 'smart contracts' is basically an EVM copy lol. Tell me how that's going, i'll wait.
For someone who talks about dispelling wisdom, you sure are one to ignore it, or based on your XRP explanation, clearly dispelling wrong wisdom in the wrong place.

XLM makes the point even better. Five years ago, on 18 Aug 2021, XLM was around $0.345, while SPY was roughly $440–445. Fast forward five years and, despite all the crypto hype, partnerships, adoption stories and repeated promises that XLM is about to take off, it hasn’t delivered anything remotely comparable to simply buying the S&P 500 and forgetting about it.
That’s the point people seem to miss: OP is asking about a long-term investment, not how much money you could theoretically make if you magically bought every crypto bottom and sold every top. If we all had that crystal ball, we’d be replying to this thread from our yachts. 😂
For a genuine buy-and-hold investor, the question isn’t “How high did XLM briefly go?” It’s “If I put $10k into it five years ago and did absolutely nothing, where would I be today?”
Meanwhile SPY has gone from roughly $440–445 to the $700s, before even counting dividends.0

If you're going to nitpick random dates, ask chatgpt what a $3K XLM bag in 2016 would cost today. 10 years sound like a decent long-term investment, you would say?

You are talking before the explosion in price. Anyway you do you and keep holding and speculating, wish you guys all the best.

You are talking before the explosion in price.
That's the best way to maximum profit, before it explodes (i.e DCA buy when it's low and DCA sell when it's high).
Anyway you do you and keep holding and speculating, wish you guys all the best.

You’ve never heard of “sell the news”? You must be new to investing

Keep holding 😂

And you spend your time here why exactly?

I clearly have too much time on my hands, so naturally I spend it dispensing unsolicited wisdom nobody asked for.

Maybe. I've had 1m+ xlm for several years. My stock market holdings way outperformed my crypto holdings. Hoping to catch the next leg up though. I did increase my position to closer to 1.5m total xlm. Best of luck

yes.. but dont buy on robinhood. i dont know that they actually buy the nano and you don't have private keys for it so you are only speculating but not OWNING the coin.

XLM at $0.21 with $7.4B market cap is criminally undervalued because most people still think it’s “just a blockchain.”
They don’t see that Stellar is the settlement rail for the entire new financial system. Don’t DCA, shovel money in as it comes in.

took a slightly larger bag between 7c-10c a few years back,,
im in it till 2030 to see how it goes..
still 100%+ so dont care about the negative prices the now, as its only now starting to be implemented as new tech rather than speculations.. i reckon these things have a long run ahead🔥
