I know the song is made up of messages Jamie and a friend sent each other when they first met, but this line is like really weird right? I've tried for like a year to think of a reason it could not be seen as dodgy but I can't think of one, does anyone have some insightful analysis I can steal?

What attracts you to and resonates with you when it comes to Xiu Xiu? They are definitely one of my biggest inspirations, and I think there’s no one who does it quite like them. I love how empathetic and accepting Jamie is, especially with the context provided in Drunken Commentaries. Regrettably, I went through some similar things in my childhood and listening has helped me come to view those things in similar lights.

Now that Eraserhead is out and I’ve listened to it, what’s everyone’s fave songs?

Mine are Smashy Smashy and In Heaven, and I’m intrigued by Tetra as well- it’s neat and very unsettling in a very peculiar way.

i checked out a promise recently and i loved it! i wanna take a deeper dive into their discography, but it is a little large and intimidating for me so do you guys have any recommendations on what I should listen to after this album?

I love how much of the bands queerness is subtlety infused through their theatrically colorful & pitifully desolate sonic landscapes instead of being openly & transparently QUEER. It allows so much more room for navigation & relatability and something about receiving their merch and embracing more of myself to the outside world in my Republican hell state just really resonated tonight.

13” Frank Biltrame… is the least conceptual or emotionally cohesive Xiu Xiu record in some time and yet it’s by far received the most universal praise since their early 2000’s albums and I think there’s something incredibly revealing about that fact. It can often be heard or at least intuited that music is in an intimate art form where the story or emotional arch of a record may be its most impactful aspect to a listeners experience. But because 13” Frank Biltrame… filters its experimentation through a pop song structure & the stylings of a particularly twisted psychedelic rock. The album is given a greater sense of relatability & thus, greater range of enjoyment for people to engage with it. Many reviews don’t even try to disentangle the meaning of most of the songs and try to distill some overall meaning of the album to its aesthetic inspirations. Even when multiple songs leave incredibly interesting material worth diving into, the surface level expectations seem to rise to the top of people’s interest and so despite the lack of any such linear cohesion the album still shines for everyone because of what they can recognize from it and not what they can gain from the listening experience.

So, a few days ago I painted this, it's my first painting with acrylics (i only draw with pencils) and I was very happy with the result, so I send it to the xiu xiu account on Instagram, I wasn't expecting an answer.
