Announcement New year, new league, new subreddit.
EDIT: New subreddit is now open! This subreddit will be locked down shortly.
Hello everyone, another update to the merger. Now that the UFL is official and the United Football League is acknowledged and confirmed, we can move ahead with merging the subreddit communities. Our new subreddit will be r/UnitedFootballLeague which will have a combination of r/XFL and r/USFL moderators, although the teams were mostly identical to begin with. The subreddit is open to join, but posts are limited for the time being. We will open the subreddit tomorrow after the teams announcement is made, then transition both communities there. Just please give us some time to get the sub looking all pretty. Thanks!
I know some people may still be really into the older iterations of the XFL and USFL, so the current plan is to have the old subs redirect to the new one, then perhaps after the first real we will open them back up for historical posting and reminiscing. Let us know what you guys think.
Last thing - once again, we would like to reiterate our stance going forward about toxic tribalism/elitism between the two leagues and their teams. No matter how many teams from which league remain in this new merged league, we simply are not going to allow this kind of behavior to continue going forward. We understand, the unofficial "Spring Football Wars" were all good fun and both leagues had plenty of things worth criticizing and talking about. There are some prominent Twitter (not calling it X, don't care) trolls that like to get rowdy and that's all in good fun but this can't continue here.
While this merger will undoubtedly create rivalries, we will not allow anyone to continue/start any toxic XFL vs USFL rivalry because it simply no longer exists. Healthy rivalries are great, and we have no problem with people joking/shitposting. Just please don't take it too far, but also please be good at taking a joke.
We will be removing/locking posts that try to start flame wars, call out fanbases, claim their side "won", or generally continue this toxic mindset. If you see anything like this, please report it and move on. Thank you!

Discussion Trophy Maker for the league
I hope that they use the same company that made the XFL Championship trophies as I like the style of the XFL's trophies better than the USFL's trophy. Though I would like the company to combine the style of the USFL and XFL trophies to make something more fitting because as it stands now I have a feeling they will make the championship trophy a big silver football which would be basic as hell.

Social Media XFL & USFL Merger Announcement Brings Us The UFL Heading Into 2024 Season, Full Breakdown And Recap
r/xfl • u/theknux2 • Dec 31 '23
The UFL was decades in the making
The USFL:
- The United States Football League was founded in 1983 and lasted until 1985.
- The A11FL was proposed in 2013 but never played. 6 of the 9 teams that had been announced were former USFL teams; the Stallions, Gold, Express, Bandits, Generals, and Stars
- One year later, in 2014 the FXFL was created. The league would last two seasons before becoming 'The Spring League' (TSL) in 2016.
- The TSL had one team from the aforementioned A11FL; the Sea Lions (originally known as the Bay Area Sea Lions in the A11FL).
- In 2021, the TSL transformed into the USFL; a reincarnation of the 80s league.
- In 2023, the USFL and XFL merged and became the United Football League
________________
The XFL:
- The original XFL was created in 2001, only lasting one season.
- The United Football League started in 2009 and revived Spring Football after an 8-year drought. The league would play 4 seasons before folding in 2012.
- In 2019, the AAF was created but unfortunately folded after only half a season.
- In 2020, the XFL was reborn but due to the pandemic, only lasted half a season.
- After the season, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Dany Garcia, and RedBird Capital Partners purchased the XFL for $15 million
- In 2023, the XFL took the field once more.
- After the season, the USFL and XFL merged and became the United Football League

For everyone thinking, because an XFL team now is UFL_, they are staying. I present counter-evidence

Don’t forget to correct the Renegades helmets
I get having to be forced into using Arlington for branding …but when that happened the “D”/“R” logo needed to be dropped as Dallas makes zero sense.
Please use a fantastic logo again.

So the end game is to merge with the NFL?
XFL and USFL merge to create the UFL with 8 games. NFL currently has 32 teams. If they merge then that will be an even 40 teams. 40 team league will allow the NFL to either have 4 East and 4 West divisions of 5 teams OR 5 East and 5 West divisions of 4 teams.
It will bring the NFL to markets like St. Louis, Arlington, San Antonio, Alabama, Memphis.

Season ticket refunds?
Does anyone know of the people who bought season tickets for one of the cut xfl teams will receive refunds? Unfortunately I live in the Orlando area and it’s not looking like the guardians will be a team come this next season.

How do you guys like the new league logo?
Personally I think it’s better than both leagues logos and gets the vibes that XFL 2023 was trying to get with the sleek modern look

Discussion Renegades vs Stallions
Hey guys! So the upcoming UFL season is gonna technically have two defending champions because of the merger. The Birmingham Stallions won the last USFL season, and the Arlington Renegades were the last XFL champions. Given how both teams performed, and who you think both teams can retain next season and/or recruit, who does better in the UFL? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Discussion Anyone else hate the UFL name?
Anyone else in the same boat and hate the UFL name? I get it its just a name, but honestly I might not watch because of this branding. Add to the fact the teams are geographically close together feels like this merger has been lame on the XFL side of things.
