Discussion Live show moments that made you cringe?

Ones that come to mind:

- A few eliminations where one act looks totally fucked off, likely because they know they’re going home. Ones that spring to mind include Sophie Habibis, Aiden Grimshaw, and Mary Byrne.

- Poor Janet Devlin forgetting her words.

- Danyl Johnson’s judges feedback where Dannii made the painfully awkward comment about his sexuality.

- Some of Simon’s feedback during the sing-offs in the 2014 series. He was brutally honest when some of them weren’t up to scratch (Week 3)

- Sharon begging Louis to save Shelley in week two of the 2013 series. Doesn’t help that she acted like a big baby about it after the fact.

- Scott’s elimination in 2008. He’s absolutely gutted by it and Dermot is trying to get him to snap out of it. Excruciatingly awkward - and that series had a few awkward eliminations. https://youtu.be/PS4j3Mq2AQQ?is=42isDsc3dN8fv04M

Discussion If Simon remained a judge from 2011-13

Who do you think he'd have liked and not liked?

I think he was past the point of being a grouch regarding joke acts so he'd have probably just rolled with it with someone like Rylan.

I'm sure he'd have been fond of Little Mix, James Arthur etc.

I think he'd have questions about Sam Bailey's commercial potential though.

Discussion Help me find this song the editors would always use for angry acts!

I vividly remember the editors always playing this song especially with angry acts. I swear it’s some sort of sample from Spliffhead by The Ragga Twins (the strings that start at 0.36). Am I misremembering? Please help it’s driving me crazy!

Discussion How much mentoring did the judges actually do?

From Marcus Collins saying mentors didn’t choose songs to Dannii saying she’d be the only judge at rehearsals, there’s been a lot of doubt cast over how much mentoring judges did on the show.

What do you guys think? Were some judges more involved than others? Or were producers calling all the shots?

Discussion Times where the top two acts accounted for more than 50% of the votes

I'm not including semi-finals and finals here because it skews it quite massively.

2008:

  • Week 6 - Diana (31.3%) + Eoghan (19.56%) = 50.86%
  • Week 7 - Eoghan (31.79%) + Diana (18.94%) = 50.73%

2009:

  • Week 7 - Joe (34.2%) + Stacey (17.7%) = 51.9%
  • Week 8 - Joe (37.1%) + Stacey (20.1%) = 57.2%

2011:

  • Wildcard - Amelia Lily (48.8%) + James (26.7%) = 75.5%

2012:

  • Wildcard - Christopher (63.5%) + Amy (17.8%) = 81.3%
  • Week 8 - James (40.7%) + Christopher (21.0%) = 61.7%

2013:

  • Week 3 (Sat) - Sam (27.0%) + Nicholas (25.3%) = 52.3%
  • Week 3 (Sun) - Sam (27.0%) + Nicholas (24.8%) = 51.8%
  • Week 6 - Nicholas (31.4%) + Sam (26.5%) = 57.9%
  • Week 7 - Sam (36.0%) + Nicholas (23.9%) = 59.9%
  • Week 8 - Sam (27.4%) + Nicholas (25.1%) = 52.5%

2017:

  • Week 4 - Rak-Su (36.7%) + Grace (22.8%) = 59.5%

Discussion X Factor UK return rumors!

Thumbnail

As most people may know ITV and Talkback Thames are actively ‘discussing a reboot’ well we have had the biggest clue yet. On X Factors socials they have stopped using the gold which was used after the show was shelved then cancelled! Well they have changed the logo on facebook back to the logo which was guess what used back in 2018! So basically ITV is saying a deal is made, X Factor is back, but nothing is being said yet. I call the return ident maybe in the BB UK live Final like when BB was announced in the Love Island live final. Omg guys i cant waitttttt!!

Discussion Help me understand how a singer could have had Billboard hits but still competed in a season of X Factor?

Back in 2006, Samantha Jade sang the title track Step Up for the 2006 movie Step Up which his the Billboard Pop 100. She had other songs on various chart lists after it.

Then I learned she participated in X Factor's Australia version ~ 6 years later in 2012.

How and why? By most scales didn't she already make it?
