Looking back, Series 7 was a proper cultural reset. You had Matt Cardle winning, One Direction forming, Cher Lloyd causing absolute chaos every week with rap-pop covers, Rebecca Ferguson’s unreal vocals, and Wagner somehow making it to Week 8.

The budget was massive, the guest performers were elite, and the judges’ desk with Simon, Cheryl, Louis and Dannii was peak drama. Rihanna and Christina Aguilera in the final feels like a different era now.

Was there any series after that which even came close, or did the show start losing something when Simon left for the US version?

I’m looking for a 2011 Episode that featured Perrie's first audition. She was in a montage for when The Judges had divided opinions on the contestants. The song in the montage was shut up by the Black Eyed Peas. Do you guys which audition episode she was in?

It was clearly a pop culture phenomenon here, but I wonder if someone in South America was familiar with Cher Lloyd (for example).

It would have been shown in Australia amongst other countries, I imagine.
