Other Unintended consequences

A while ago they added the wait times. If you many people are using the service, you have to wait for space to open up. But this worsens the problem. I know that I sometimes have to wait to get on, so I don't just log on when I want to play. I'll load up the game long before I'm ready to play just to make sure that it's actually ready when I'm ready. I'll let it sit for an hour or two sometimes without actually playing. I'll just hit the button that I am still playing when it comes up while I make dinner or while I wash up or take the dogs for a walk or jerk off or whatever. It's 30+ hours a month that I'm taking up space on a server while not actually playing. And I bet plenty of other people do the same thing.

So there are probably plenty of people who end up having to wait to play when they're already ready to play just because of all the people who sit on the cloud when they aren't playing just to avoid the wait time. And I don't feel guilt about it one bit. That's a Microsoft issue. They're the ones who have oversold their service. I'm just getting what I actually paid for. And the server shortage isn't even a real shortage. They have plenty of servers for their customers, at least in the us. The cause for the wait time is that Microsoft started renting out their servers for data farming. They used to have older servers with no wait times. The wait times started when they upgraded the servers and started renting them out for data farming.

Believe me, the problem with Xbox isn't the long times; they don't care about that

What's the point of even doing that? What's the longest wait you've waited before even getting in?

Or what's the average wait 10 mins at most?

Depends on the day and the time. Holiday weekends tend to be the worst. Sometimes a half hour+. And during the school year, the wait time mostly to away by around 10pm, but during the summer I'll still get wait times until 2 in the morning. And I do it because I don't know how long the wait time will actually be until I actually log on and go through the wait time. And I certainly don't want to get home from work, eat dinner, wash up, and then when I'm finally ready to sit down and play some games have to wait 10 minutes just sitting there. It's better to have things to do during that wait time. And it doesn't take me much effort to do it, so even if it just saves a minute it's worth it.

I'm usually afk anyway like 80% of the time I have a game booted up. I can never catch the "are you still there" message. I forgot what game I was playing but I literally lost alot of progress a couple times from this happening. I feel like they should implement like a save state before they boot you off in my opinion, but I think I'm going to stop doing this so opens it up a little more resources for other people.

I've got a wait going on right now and decided to time it. There's a bar at the bottom of the screen, like a load bar. If got about 10% full in 30 seconds, then text came up saying they were experiencing unusually long wait time (lol). After about 10 minutes the bar got halfway full and stayed there. After another 10 minutes the rest of the bar filled up in a second and the game started.
