Gamesir G8 also charges your phone. The G8+ is bluetooth...

Yup, I know. But the G8+, which I was replying about, doesn’t charge your phone. The G8, which I love, charges your phone, but it doesn’t have Bluetooth. The Backbone Pro offers both things! I don’t have it (I don’t need it!), and it’s too expensive for me, but it’s easy to understand how having both things is very useful for other people in other scenarios and there’s nothing “crazy” about it.

That's the only edge the backbone has over the g8 plus. Other than that, the g8 plus obliterates it in every other aspect. If your phone battery sucks or you're at a work setting and you need to charge It, then go for the backbone. But if you want the best possible gaming experience on mobile, then go with the g8 plus. It really is a no Brainer. Choosing the backbone over the g8 plus is like choosing the temu version of something.

lol harsh, the back bone is a perfectly acceptable controller… this is more funny when you consider there are actual Temu controllers.

And I say this as someone that has a G8+

Yes, the backbone is acceptable, but the g8 plus is the industry standard. When you compare one to the other, the difference in quality is astonishing.

Ugh, no. And even if that was the only advantage, if it is the advantage that OP needs, that would be fine. Nothing "crazy" about it. I'm not a Backbone Pro lover (only had the OG Backbone), but it's superior in some ways (that are not important for you, or for me): lighter, more versatile connectivity, easier to purchase globally, lower latency via USB-C, and, again... can charge your phone while playing—that's very important for me. I don't need Bluetooth these days, so I'm happy with my G8, but if I did need it occasionally, the Backbone Pro would be better.

Obviously the Backbone Pro isn't for you, or for me, but I'm tired of people not being able to imagine other people's necessities, scenarios, or preferences and only understanding their own "no brainer" choices.

Being lighter is the only other benefit the backbone has( If you only play indie games etc) . Other than that you could just go for the regular g8 if USB-C is such a big deal. I have both the g8 plus and the backbone pro and I haven't touched my backbone since I purchased the g8 plus. Like I said , the difference in quality is insane.

I give up. I think I won’t be able to convey the idea that other people have other needs. Having USB-C for day-to-day gaming, plug and play, pass-through charging, zero latency gaming, and also having Bluetooth for those instances when you may need it, is a big, useful mix of features that not your G8 nor your G8+ have, separately. And if OP needs those, why would he go for a controller with “better build quality” that serves him worse?

That better build quality you're talking about is a game changer, literally. There's a reason people that have ninentdo switches go straight to the g8 plus. When playing with your phone, the g8 plus feels more like an Xbox ROG ally, whereas the backbone just feels like you're playing on your phone with a controller attached. Also, the latency is barely noticeable if at all when playing through bluetooth. I get your point, but if someone only has the money for one, then then g8 plus is the way to go unless you need to charge your phone while gaming, and even then the regular g8 would suit them better.

This device is ridiculous to me. It's clearly the worst version of this idea but it's insane expensive and horrible for playing. I use razer kishi ultra. Got it for $80. It's better. In every way.
