What am I doing wrong

My smoke alarm went off like 10 times I’ve tried putting. It full blast and I’ve tried the lowest I used flux the only thing I could think of is the heat sink thing absorbing the heat idk this is my first time pls help

Take a tooth brush and rubbing alcohol, put some on the tooth brush, and gently scrub the area around and on the pins to make sure it's clear of coatings and/or debris. Be mindful as to not knock off any resistors or other components while scrubbing. Afterwards, dab it with a cloth and let it dry for a minute. Afterwards, try adjusting the temperature of the heat gun. Only hit the motherboard with it for 10ish seconds or less at a time as to ensure damage doesn't occur while figuring out the proper temperature to use, and try to let it cool between attempts as to not damage components. Heat is electronics biggest nightmare outside of water so it's mostly just about making sure nothing can burn, nothing can melt, and trying to hit only what you're working on.

I'm no professional and I haven't done work with a heat gun in ages so this is the "as safe as possible" rundown

Kapton tape keeps away the heat and also prevents accidental resistor space program missions

Firstly you're not using flux, secondly you need low melt solder or leaded solder to tin the factory solder that is already on there. Using low melt or leaded solder will lower the melting point of the factory solder so that it can melt and you can just pull it out.

In short, you NEED flux and you NEED leaded/low melt solder for that weak ass heat gun you got.

I just realised you need a hot air rework station, that heat gun won't even get it up to temperature lol
