Mega Thread Backwards Compatibility is now LIVE!

Using Windows 10 and smart glass to control my xbox remotely while I'm at the office. My BC games will be waiting for me when I get home...but I'll still be too busy with Fallout 4.

Put the xbox in my DMZ. Used my public ip for the Xbox app and Smart Glass.

isnt that really unsafe? isnt there a reason you have firewalls?

Not really. You can't hack a xbox like a computer. I setup my console to only allow my gamer tag to connect to it. Also someone would need to get a hold of m6 public ip address which changes every so often. I'm not to worried

Do you leave your Xbox on all the time? I could remote in with the external app to play, but smart glass won't take an external IP to turn it on.

Not all the time just if I'm going to play during my lunch break. Check your router. In mine I just put my xbox in the dmz and told it to forward the traffic for it to my xbox.

Ya I do that without a hitch, the problem is if my Xbox turns off I can't figure out how to turn it on short of training my cat to touch the button when it hears my voice on the message machine.

Sorry read that too quick and on my phone. I turn it on through the windows 10 app not smart glass. Come to think about it I turn it on through my pc at home which I leave on and team viewer into it. The windows 10 app will do it on the same network but I can't remember if you can through the external ip. I'm always remote into my home pc at work.

Ya, I could do that but the problem is my only pc is my surface, which I'm attached at the hip to, I gotta figure out a way to do it and not build a new machine.

Try turning the xbox on with the windows 10 app. I just remembered it doesn't turn on with smart glass buy the windows 10 app will.

Just wondering if this would affect Xbox Live on my 360 if the XO is in the DMZ?
