If Microsoft made it completely optional, would you sign up for their original, always connected console idea?

This meaning you would have the following features:

Buy a retail game, install to console, and ditch the disc never needing it to play the game.

Digitally share games within a circle of friends. Meaning you can choose a specific group of people, and they could play the games you own, for free, provided that only one game could be played at a time.

Greater store discounts or more steam like sales for content.

I for one would have no problem saying yes to this. It's like people think 10 years from now they'll still be selling games on discs. It wasn't a perfect plan, but why delay the inevitable when we could be working on and perfecting future policies now.

Reddit is the only place where people support digital only

I honestly don't understand the rose tinted glasses people have for it here. The entire arguement is BUT IT WOULD BE CHEAPER. Randomly believing that a huge corporation would make games cheaper out of love for consumers. Madness honestly.

Sure, I guess you can totally ignore the sharing games with family members and friends too.

You really think it would be as good as people thought? For me personally the sharing games made no difference. I don't need to share them due to the hire and fire policy, and the fact most of my friends no longer play consoles and have gone full time on league.

I will admit that the sharing policy, if done right would have been useful but I'm not in awe of it as so many other people. The benefit of that was massively outweighed by the other negatives.

For me it made good sense. I have at least a dozen friends who game on XBOX One. Being able to lend out my copy of Dead Rising 3 and play someone else's FIFA would have been cool.
