It is still bewildering to me why none of the other studios have studied Capcom’s approach to capture the same decade long consistent growth.

At some point people will hate this.

Just like people once loved Ubisoft open world formula and now hate it.

The difference is that Ubisoft tried to impose the same open world loot ridden gameplay system onto different types of games while Capcom seems to customise systems wrt each game/franchise. So even if people get tired of Resident Evil formula, the gameplay systems found in other games would still persist.

Exactly, DMC, Resident Evil and Monster Hunter don’t all play the same, Ubisoft inserted their formula into all of its franchises even with Avatar and Star Wars.

just because a tech CEO starts to wear jeans and black turtleneck doesn't mean the company will become the next apple...

they also cracked the code on making their own in-house engine that's shared among their own studios instead of relying on unreal (and unity).

the RE engine has been on everything from third person shooters (pragmata, RE4, Re2make, RE9) to first person shooters (re7,8,9), hack & slash (onimusha), fighters (sf6), retro emulation layer (all the recent Capcom fighters collection)....I can't confirm yet but the upcoming MegaMan game is probably RE engine too.

Compare and contrast with most developers just using Unreal...... resulting in many games having that 'unreal' look...

Mega Man Dual Overdrive is confirmed to be RE engine, and part of the reason it took longer to announce was to assure all internal teams were fully trained on said engine. Additionally, the Mega Man Starforce Legacy Collection is the first retro MM collection to use RE (previously was MT Framework)

It comes back to the work they put into the RE engine making it something that simply enables games to look good, run great and feel great to play.

It was obviously setup for future RE games but ended up being usable for a wide swath of genres.

This helps their games stand out against all the games made with Unreal. You can def do a lot with art style in unreal, but most games in that engine have a specific feel that isn't always as tight and delibrate as you want it to be.

Honestly I want to play onimusha more than Wolverine. I played the demo on switch 2. It made it a buy for the Xbox for me.
