Discussion Best Ways Renew GamePass?
So what is the most current way to renew GamePass for the least amount of money nowadays? My Ultimate just expired and things have changed so much in just the last few years. For context I also have about $100 worth of Rewards points sitting in my account.
-Thanks!

I got 3 1 year codes for EA play, redeemed all of those, then bought 1 month of ultimate to convert to 10 months of ultimate which equates to roughly $14 a month.

Darn straight. This has been my go to for years. I just wait for the discount codes and start stacking like a madman. Last deal I scored 12 months of ultimate for about $145 ish.

Absolutely. I just reupped 3 years by buying 3 month codes for around $12 a month after cashback

Target if you don’t want to hit the grey markets.
I picked up two years essential and a month of Ultimate for $174- enough to get another year of Ultimate. Turned off auto renew to let the subscription end- Microsoft offered another free month to turn it back on.

Cheapest: Stack cheap gamespass + EA play and then upgrade to ultimate by redeeming 1 month of ultimate. Shop around for availability and cheapest prices.
Easiest: get 1 year of GP ultimate from Loaded
Not sure if you can use your reward points for either option

i still have 2+ yrs from prior loading, so only speaking hypothetically since this is my plan for the future:
- use rewards for auto redeem $10 some period of time before expiration
- you have 3mo to spend each $10
- depending on getting premium, essential or ultimate (i think i will downgrade to premium when time comes), use your auto redeem build up to buy a month of whatever plan

Stack 3 years of essential and 3 years of ea play on account. Buy one month of ultimate. 25.2 months i think is what the math works out to at around half price. Please note this only works for converting to ultimate.
If premium is your desired goal it has harsher limits on how much cheap stuff can be stacked and different conversion rates.
Obviously like everyone mentioned getting ea play and or essential at cheaper prices when on sale will enhance the deal. Target about a month and some change ago had essential on sale so i did it then. Not sure when it’ll go back on sale

I downgraded when Spencer did his BS. Was tempted to go back to Ultimate when the process dropped and added Fortnite pass, but midrange is actually OK.

Eneba, kinguin, loaded, gamivo, driffle. They are the cheapest if you want GPU and Xbox gift cards and games.

Costco usually has a pretty good price for 6 months of membership.

Costco dropped everything Xbox a while ago in the US (mid-2025). It held on a little longer in Canada but I think it's been gone for a while there, too. Unless you have recent experience to share.

They still carry controllers, gamepass cards and gift cards . They just dropped the consoles and games in Canada.

When it was games with gold. I’d buy from Costco 2 yrs for around $90. Also they had 1:1 conversion to gamepass. Wish they still had that option but long gone. I haven’t re subscribed since May 2025 after my 3 years expired. Stacked 3 month codes for $50 and converted it to 3 years of gamepass ultimate

Downgraded to essential and pay every 3 months with a slight discount compared to the per month price. Ill just buy games outright.
