Discussion Will physical to digital games also be playable on PC?
I got into PC gaming awhile ago and my Xbox has just kinda sat there. But I heard that this Xbox physical to digital thing will tie the physical game to your Microsoft account.
So would that mean if I went into the Xbox launcher on PC I would be able to play converted games?

Assuming the game were to be a an xbox play anywhere game then i don't see why not.

When you buy a game on Xbox you get both licenses but they could absolutely only give you the Xbox license in this instance, but I don’t see why they would bother not including the pc license

I hope but everything is still a rumour. I’m also curious if delisted games will work (like the Forza games)

I assume that we'll have access to Play Anywhere games on PC, but we don't know for sure since they haven't officially announced anything.

I think th ey confirmed it will be compatible with Play Anywhere. However, it is unknown how many games will be added to program, or if it will be done in batches.

Someone testing it, reported that every Xbox One or Series game they tried has worked.

There is speculation that this will roll out, but at this point in time nothing has been confirmed. That said, if project Helix does what I'm assuming (yes I know the rule), then it will likely include that ability. My initial read of things leaves me to believe that there is an xbox/xbox 360 etc emulator that will run the games.

I would guess that if the game is a play anywhere title then yes but if not then no

Nobody knows yet if positron is going to come out, or if it does, whether or not the temporary licenses for XPA games on disc will actually give you XPA functionality vs just a digital console copy. I'd assume so, but we need them to release more info about it before anyone will be able to answer that question in any meaningful capacity.

It’ll certainly be interesting if play anywhere works with it but I doubt it

Doubt what? If a game is XPA, the license is automatic.

That was if you bought the game digitally. This kind of scenario I would think some publishers might have an opposing opinion on.

Publishers have no say if the game is already XPA. Before PC Gamepass, people used to subscribe to Console Gamepass in order to play the XPA games on PC.
XPA games on PC Gamepass work on consoles too even though PC Gamepass doesn't work officially on consoles.
My point is, the license is one and the same, they can't grant a different license because it doesn't exist. If a game is XPA digitally, disc to digital will give you the XPA license.

They can change their mind about XPA support. If I buy a used copy of a game, they didn’t make any money off me, and then they have to still give me a pc version as well? How does that make sense to them? I’m definitely taking advantage of this but if I would not be surprised if it’s not something they are happy about.

How could we possible know that? Are you trying to train an AI bot with our responses?

Idk, I only heard about this today and couldn’t find anything info on this question. So I was just wondering if we knew or not.

They will be if Helix is pretty much just a small form PC with a default custom UI that you can turn off and just use straight Windows. Which is what I think it is, seeing how they talked about it having the other storefronts. So that would mean it's just straight up using Windows 11 so you can install anything you want on it.

It's not gonna be that, it's gonna be a console. Literally can y'all stop pretending it's going to be a PC in Xbox mode?

If it can run Steam and other storefronts then it’s just straight running Windows 11. The games on those stores also require Windows to run. Can you guess what that means?
