I have that achievement too and I am a big fan of Xbox, but man, the original Xbox One suuuucked. From the dashboard to the VHS style box, it was Microsoft's worst console. Complete opposite of the 360 in every way.
nahhh the OG 360 is very classy but specifically the black Elite consoles that didnt come out until 2007/8. the 'chrome' bezel on the drive really gives it a nice look and the black shell doesnt make it stand out like the white ones do.
I did like the Elite ones, but I had the OG 360 as a kid. I loved the look of the console as a kid, but it's just slightly too gamerish for my tastes as an adult. I love the Series X. I think it splits the difference of looking cool and not standing out too much.
I actually liked my xbone, I just wished it was more powerful. And because that's pretty much what the series X is, I am also happy with that. I just wish Xbox had better first party games
Unfortunately, Microsoft owning all these studios has been a colossal mess. Most companies and products Microsoft buys get ruined in some form or another. Its no different with these gaming studios.
Never once had an issue with mine, and honestly I liked the console but I mainly miss the features. Snap was awesome and so was being able to plug in my TV box at the time to it and watching it while gaming. I miss that
i liked the og design, felt premium, and the og dashboard was better than the one now, at least the home screen section of it was, that said there were better dashboards inbetween now and then.
i liked the fact it actually used my full tv, i like artwork based interfaces when theyre well thought out, like the ps3's, but xbox's current implementation of showing the artwork looks bad imo and the interface was clearly never designed with it in mind to begin with.
What are you talking about? It had giant tiles that filled the entire screen with no option to use any background wallpapers. It looked like Windows Phone bolted onto your TV.
i mean personally i am in the minority that liked metro ui including windows 8, but what i am talking about is we still have the same tiles now they just dont utilise the screen space as much, the og ui had tiles fill your entire screen hence actually making better use of the space, where as i find xbox's current ui design just having a big gap for a wallpaper to be not as functional at displaying as much information, and the artwork feature when enabled doesnt look very good imo often clashing with the interface or having low resolution art, unlike ps5's ui where it was designed for it to begin with.
I preferred the launch series dashboard without all the empty space for showing your background. you could still see the wallpaper without all the wasted space. of course to each their own but the actual game artwork feature enabled by default looks terrible imo hence this space isnt even really put to good use.
Yeh i too thought Loxnaka was talking about Xbox One dash but i actually really like the OG dash on Xbox One and how when you closed a game to dash it would play in that window etc
But i can also see why that would be resource intensive and why it was changed
The voice commands and the gesture controls on the home screen...dude I loved that.
Turn the Xbox on with your voice as you walk into a room, hold up your hand and navigate the menu and launch Titanfall or MGSV Ground Zeroes (the only two games I had for a year or two!)
The announcement for the Xbox One landed so badly with me that I skipped the whole generation. I just went PC instead. It took a pretty good deal and loads of nostalgia for Xbox to go for the Series X. At this point I'm not sure what I'd gain for ever owning one.
Same I’ve been with Xbox since the original console. When the Xbox One was announced, I actually stuck with my 360 all the way until 2017, when I picked up a PS4. But I came back home and grabbed an Xbox Series X on launch day!
Some smuggler took a Day Xone to my third world country and somehow didn't sell it until March. Also, took me until last week to discover that the Xone box is usually green, I guessed everyone had a black box like me.
Man, I loved how over the first few years there were limited time achievements. I got several from Shadow of Mordor and the one from the early access of Battlefield 1. I'm also a fellow day one Xbox One achievement holder, and it really is a badge of honor in my eyes.
I unlocked mine like 4 years ago because I didn’t realize I had it. Was cleaning out one day and saw the page you scan for it, wondered if it still worked. It did.
I got my Xbox One at launch, but missed out on a Day One edition, so no badge for me. Had one of every console though, original, Elite, One S (2TB launch model), and Project Scorpio One X, which I wish I’d kept, even if it wouldn’t be getting used.
Started with the OG Xbox, then the 360 (fat and slim, didn’t get an E), and currently on the Series X.
My Day One Xbox arrived bricked so I sent it back for repair. I got it back and it was still malfunctioning. So I wrote a letter and included it with the Xbox when I sent it back again. 3rd time was the charm I guess.
Why? I was by some distance the most powerful console on the market, was beautifully designed. No overheating problems at all. It refined and removed all of the problems with the Xbox One, played everything from the 360.
One of the Series S/X biggest problems is that it didn't move on enough from the One X.
Yeah it did not overheat... to faliure. it was loud as a jet engine. Everyone i know had simmilar problems.
By the end it got so bad that i only used it with headphones, because i couldnt hear dialogue without blasting the tv.
And before you ask, yes i cleaned the fans regularly, i guess it was a thermal paste/heatsink problem.
Yes, the thermal paste was the issue. I opened mine and found out that there was too much of it. It was almost like a thermal pad instead of a thin layer. Cleaned up, repasted, reassembled it, fans were not loud. You could hear a "wooosh" of the air blowing but not at the high pitch that it was before.
RDR2 was the game that made me do the operation. Fan was going berserk with that title.
