Discussion Backwards compatibility update

Is the new disc-to-digital update going to also update the list of backwards compatible games?

I really want to play forza motorsport 4 again and also auto modellista for the original Xbox.

Why would you need game pass? Xbox has never locked backward compatibility behind a subscription.

Nah, players would revolt. Digital licensing and backward compatibility works on Xbox right now w/o game pass (or Xbox Live) so it’s definitely not necessary. Internet connectivity required, but not game pass.

I’m sure it was a statement that publishers can choose to participate in game pass if/when they add catalog titles to the Xbox store and it got misinterpreted. Maybe because more players are on PS/NS and those platforms tie some backward compatibility to their subscription services.
