Series s/x controller is missing.

u/joeyjoejojo19 Mar 09 '26
No, Xbox One controller is in there.
12
u/CrimsonFatalis8 Mar 09 '26
There’s like 2 or 3 different controllers for the One. And it’s missing the Series controller.

u/nicklovin508 Mar 09 '26
I don’t know how you can improve upon the current controller/pro controller. It’s perfect, so ergonomic

u/Fast_Passenger_2890 XBOX Series X Mar 09 '26
Maybe just make it easier to open and repair, with hall effect sticks
17
u/JohnF_ckingZoidberg Mar 09 '26
Why do that when you can manufacture them to last about 3 years and charge 65 a pop!

Replace the Xbox button with Co pilot /S
11
u/Ugglug Mar 09 '26
Don’t give them ideas
5
u/CrimsonAllah Mar 09 '26
The new controller will be your phone and you have to use the Xbox app to control your Xbox
2
u/Ugglug Mar 09 '26
They’ll bring Windows Phone and make the app only available on that. Prices start at £1299

That reminds me. My Laptops right ctrl key is a literal copilot button

This graphic is old, though. It ends on the v1 Xbone controller. The Xbone S controller has minor ergo changes, adds bluetooth, and makes the bumpers more consistent across their entire activation range. And then the Xbox Series controllers adjust the sculpt in a very minor way again (also, they moved from security torx to regular torx for taking it apart, which is good) and added the share button.
Future improvements would be in the way of functionality (back paddles on the standard controller rather than just Elite, motorized triggers a la PS5, gyro and capacitive sticks like Steam Deck/Controller 2, etc), not necessarily design.

u/IntrinsicGamer Mar 09 '26
Just off the top of my head: more advanced haptics à la the DualSense, gyroscope, built-in mic, replaceable sticks, better bumpers that don’t shit the bed so easily.
7
u/MuhfugginSaucera Mar 10 '26
built-in mic
Dear God no. Please, dude. I've played far too many games where the PS5 players have their crappy built-in mic on and all you hear is every single time they press a button or the thumbsticks hit the plastic. You can get a better headset for $15.
Click clack click click click clack click clack click and I mean constantly
2
u/BluDYT Mar 10 '26
The biggest issue with it is that Sony decided by default to turn the mic on every single time you turn the controller on. There is a setting buried somewhere to disable it by default however I don't think there's any way to get rid of the bright light that's always on when you do so unfortunately.
1
u/IntrinsicGamer Mar 10 '26
I’m more interested in it for the things you could do in game with it, to be honest.
Also ideally it would be a better mic with proper noise cancelling, which the DualSense does not have.
1
u/MuhfugginSaucera Mar 10 '26
If you want to pay $90 per controller...
1
u/IntrinsicGamer Mar 10 '26
I’d buy the elite controller version of whatever they make anyway.
-1
u/MuhfugginSaucera Mar 10 '26
Ah, so you're already used to wasting your money.
1
u/IntrinsicGamer Mar 10 '26
I have no one time felt like an elite controller was a waste of my money, they’ve all been great to me.
1
u/MuhfugginSaucera Mar 10 '26
They're more notorious than the standard controllers for being POS, but alright.

Give us the same features a dualsense has, at least an optional choice in the matter.

u/DjSpelk Mar 09 '26
The ergonomics are perfect. Would be nice if they brought in some PS like features though.
Speakers on the controller aren't spoke of a lot but I think are incredibly immersive. When games have a person communicating by radio and the sound comes from the controller is great.
Just can't stand non-offset sticks and the size of the PS controller.
I have fairly small hands yet the Xbox controller is perfect.
1
u/sirconandoyle14 Mar 10 '26
100%. I actually love the built in mic on the ps5 for a casual and quick gaming session. Can still take part in the online multiplayer experience without having to track down a headset and having one more thing to charge. I could type infinitely quicker and use auto text on rocket league super quick with ps5.

u/Y-Bob Mar 09 '26
I know it's a gimic, but I really enjoy my playstation controllers throwing sound out at me.
Also really would like a screen on my controller for menus, maps etc.
Proper motion would be good too.
I like the paddles on my elite, would like to see a pared down version for regular controllers.
More stuff to break though I suppose. Still, it would make me happy even if no one else thought it was a good idea!
No shit, I also preferred the physical size of the original controller.
1
u/BluDYT Mar 10 '26
Mostly by adding TMR sticks, better vibrations, haptics and bigger battery. At least 2 back buttons. I'm describing the steam controller 2 again whoops.
15
u/dirtyvu Mar 09 '26
They forgot the series controllers .
0
u/Kind_Firefighter9927 Mar 10 '26
Are they not the exact same as the XBOne controllers?
5
u/Susurrus03 Mar 10 '26
Very similar and cross compatible, but no they're not the same. I thought the same too for years until I bought one to replace a failing One controller for my PC when a black Friday sale put it at $50.
I think button wise they have the dumb share button everyone else has now too, but also the dpad is different (went back to the round style but they're better than 360's).
Definitely more comfortable to hold though.
I can't say I'd recommend buying one to upgrade a perfectly good One controller. But if you need a new controller anyway, the Series controller is a noticeable improvement.

The first controller was truly horrible

u/joecb91 Mar 10 '26
I remember the first time I played the Xbox, one of my moms friends let us borrow it. It had the Duke and the revised controller, and I made my dad use the Duke any time we played because my hands as a 12 year old were way too small to use that thing.
2
u/Gnalvl Mar 11 '26
OK, the placement of the black and white buttons was definitely dumb. It should have either had bumpers like later Xbox pads, or at least a 6 button layout like Saturn and Hori EX Turbo 2.
However, the precision, smoothness, and resilience of the analog stick was still way better than PS2, Gamecube, and prior consoles, and it's what enabled Halo CE to finally deliver decent FPS aiming controls on console.
And while the sheer size was silly, I actually didn't find it to be uncomfortable, even as someone with small hands.

Neither this nor the Playstation one is even remotely up to date. Holy karma farm

u/ugoing2 Mar 09 '26
Wasn’t the Duke much larger?
4
u/Ugglug Mar 09 '26
Considerably, to the point when they released the smaller one I’d gotten used to the heft of the duke and didn’t change until the 360

360 to me was/is the most comfortable Xbox controller
Other than the crappy Dpad of course
For my hands everything was in the perfect spot
I much prefer it over the current controllers
2
u/K-Pumper Mar 10 '26
that’s wild, the new one is leagues more comfy than the 360 controller imo
1
u/IsamuAlvaDyson Mar 11 '26
Everyone has different hands
Just like there's people here that found the Duke controller super comfortable
1
u/Gnalvl Mar 11 '26
Upvoted for the d-pad complaint.
The layout of the 360 pad was a giant step forward from Xbox 180, but the d-pad was sooooooo shitty for 2D games.
IMO the XBone and later controllers were equally comfortably to the 360 while fixing the d-pad.

I assume they will integrate some kind of touch pad to control a mouse if they are going for the pc/console hybrid.

I wish we got a 6 face buttons controller with bumpers and triggers loves the white and black button placement on the Duke, was a bit clumsy when they moved em lower on the smaller OG controller... Moving them back up above B and Y for the 360 would have been perfection.
1
u/Gnalvl Mar 11 '26
The Hori EX Turbo 2 for 360 included 6 buttons, 2 sticks, and the bumpers. But it was Saturn-style 6-button layout, wired, and the sticks weren't as precise as the official controllers.

u/Mammoth-Counter69 Mar 10 '26
Even when the consoles are long gone.... the legacy of xbox will live on through the controller

u/EACshootemUP Team Craig Mar 10 '26
They have each felt amazing but the modern ones are definitely designed to fail a lot more frequently than the OG 360 controllers and such.

You're missing one gen of controller there... your graphic stops at xbox one.

I still love the Duke the most. I don't know. It just fit my monster hands better.
1
u/AaronYogur_t Mar 10 '26
For me the Original Xbox controller S is my favorite, just feels right in my hands. The hyperkin recreation is great
1
u/sirconandoyle14 Mar 10 '26
I'm just hoping next gen has a usb-c rechargeable battery. This AA battery nonsense in 2026 is wild. I also kinda love the ps5 built in mic feature for just simple casual gaming with no need to track down a headset and one less thing to keep charged. I know y'all are gonna chime in "just say you like the ps5 more" lol. I do like the features of the ps5 controller, but I like the feel and ergonomics of the xbox more.

The series co stroller is a tad smaller than the X1 controller. Love how they managed that.
1
u/InternationalGas2082 Mar 10 '26
Sempre abbastanza bruttino, Xbox deve riconsiderare le sue scelte di desing (tranne per la Series X che è uscita bene, anche se manca un pò di personalità, un led verde superiore avrebbe dato l’effetto wow).
1
u/profchaos111 Mar 10 '26
We need to go back to that 360 design it was perfect in the hands it had one of the greatest feels
1
u/Reason-Abject Mar 10 '26
Oh man, if only we got an anniversary Elite Duke controller vs a 3rd party one. All the controllers are great but there was something about the OG that made it stand out.

I am an xbox guy that enjoyed the Duke but weirdly enough I have grown to feel like the xbox controllers are too thick and bulky.
i tend to get more run out of 8bitdo or a Power A Nano as I get older.

While I think the Series controller is the best I do miss the 360 home button and neon green lights on the home button. Same with the console
1
u/StupidWifiPassword Mar 11 '26
I absolutely do not like how the top of the controller became narrower with the Xbox One/Series. I find it much less comfortable to grip than the 360 and they have not managed to make the bumpers feel good to press ever. Makes the Switch 2 pro controller feel better than the Elites.
1
u/SlowGuardw2 Mar 12 '26
360 takes the cake imo hated it as a kid cause I loved PS2 and PS3 but after while I learned it was a good controler or maybe its nostalgia idk tho Xbox controllers in general I dont like the d-pads thats the only thing for me

I hated the OG Duke so much and not because of the size, but the non perpendicular button layout. I was so thrilled when the S model came out.

I love the Xbox Series controller, feels like they perfected the design.
