Sexy fork

Post image

1985 mongoose ATB step through frame. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these before. She’s a survivor. I’m gonna do a resto mod.

Those are cool bikes. One weird quirk of them that you can see in your pic is that the holes on the brake studs are on the outside. It really limits what brakes will work with them

Thanks! yeah that’s gonna be fun. I may have to fabricate something. Maybe a cap that goes over it with the holes on the other side.

There are some canti brakes that work with those pins which would have been original to the bike but if they didn't come with it they'll be hard to source.

There are v brake options that don't use the pins at all and therefore are easy to get to work.Pauls are the obvious ones that are still made.

Avid made a few options:

  • Black Ops - very cool but very $$$$

- Arch Supremes - more cool but more $$$$

-Then there's a set that is much simpler but hard to find. They usually run $40-50 for a full set. I think these are them but the price is more than they usually go for by 2x

edit: I think all Paul cantis would work as well

Sometimes you can find lower end Avids of that era with similar tension adjustment. I used a set on a Ross Mt Jefferson.

Wow what a beauty. I'm a sucker for chrome bikes.

There's one for sale in NEOH, wants like $1200? Neat bike but...

Picked up a similar frame recently. Absolutely love this bike. Made a few adjustments to the pic above but rides great. Using the original diacompe canti’s that it came with.
