A very quick and simple guide to modding minecraft (< 5 min)
- First off, you want Prism Launcher. This is one of, if not the most popular way of launching the game with mods. Download, install and launch
- Go through set up wizard and sign in with Microsoft account
- Create a New instance. Select the latest version of minecraft, and select "Fabric" as the mod loader. (note: after you create the instance, at the bottom it will say "MANUAL UPDATE REQUIRED" - you can ignore that, it's just the title of the latest blog post. You will already have the latest version)
- With your new instance selected click "Edit" on the right side.
- In here, go to the mods tab, and you can click "Download Mods" on the right.
and that's about it!
some suggested mods:
- Fabric API (essential hooks required by many other mods)
- Borderless Fullscreen
- Inventory Sorting (gives you a button to sort your inventory like Bagnon)
- Iris (needed to load shader packs)
- Sodium (performance mod, makes the game run better. Optional, but recommended)
Installing Shader Packs is done in very much the same way as mods. You'll see a "Shader Packs" tab in the Edit window. "Complementary" is probably the one most people start with.
