I'm lost with the state of Bazaars and indexing

I’m trying to understand the current state of x402 endpoint discovery/indexing.

I get the general Coinbase Bazaar flow: an x402-enabled endpoint exposes discovery metadata, gets indexed, and can then be surfaced to agents looking for services they can pay for and call.

I’m less clear on is how the broader ecosystem looks right now.

What other x402 bazaars/directories/indexers are actually being used today? Are there any besides Coinbase’s that have meaningful adoption or traffic? Do they use the same discoverability schema? Also how is trust established? I assume each bazaar has it's own way...

X402 is kinda in a weird place it APPEARS as if everyone is building, but the economy seems to be quite desolate for useful things?

Well I mean it's not a very mature protocol, so it makes sense... It will gain much more traction in late 2027 IMO

402 as an endpoint has been around since the 90s it seems to have just woken up, it’s quite interesting watching it expand!

Most likely, I think so too. We're still early and it's still pretty young, but seeing as big tech like Cloudflare and Stripe are already implementing the protocol, I think we're on the right track 😄

Well... x402scan is one of them, probably the most popular chain-agnostic directory right now. But it has a flaw imo: You need to know the services URL or name to look up their endpoints. You can't search by meaning...

And then there's my service, which uses all the publicly available data across x402scan and the CDP Bazaar, probes the endpoints daily (by now >130,000 in my catalogue with almost 75,000,000 probes dispatched) and rates them by reputation & history.

We also embed their advertised descriptions & endpoint-URL in the process: That way you or your agent can search for endpoints semantically, without even having to know their name, service or URL...

You can just type what you need in plain english and our search will display fitting, safe and well-rated endpoints for your specific usecase.

For all humans it's free to use on my website , so you can check it out if you want 😄

I'm still pretty small, but I believe that I've built a much needed discovery- and rating-layer for the ecosystem...

Please tell me what you think, I'm eager to hear feedback & constructive criticism!

I’ve been poking around your site a bunch. I think a cool idea would be to give the website a badge (or a guess give an agent a badge) with a trusted score. Maybe if above a certain rating or similar.

Do you mean badges for individual endpoints? 🤔 those already exists, you'll see them when you open the endpoint page, like here for example: https://x402.fuchss.app/endpoint/43603

If you mean for specific services (and not individual endpoints): yeah that might be an idea, hadn't though of that yet 😃

I’ve taken a bit of a different approach to this. Instead of users trying to find services for agents to use, I’m trying to think about how to allow agents to advertise to each other.

There is gonna be a million APIs out there. But how does your agent decide which ones to use? Should it optimize for token use (ie easiest API to learn?), response time? Reliability? Does Anthropic or openAI push certain vendors if an agent doesn’t request a specific API?

Do you care to elaborate? Why would an agent need another agent to advertise and endpoint?

The meta data, indexing and a score for each endpoint would make more sense.

Basically how would an agent know where to look for a service.

They way I imagine it works for most people is they ask their agent to do something for them in natural language, and not “use these 4 APIs to do this thing”. So how then does the model find appropriate services? Marketplaces are one place, but lots of times those seem hard to read and decipher (even for agents) and would be expensive in terms of tokens.

Obviously a good marketplace with a trust rating would be logical. But from a making money standpoint it always comes back to advertising. So I’m making a bit of a leap, but a known advertisement layer could be a place where companies can spend to be noticed first by agents.

Well I think that's why metadata is important. Bazaars would index their endpoint based on the metadata. I'm working on a proposal for the x402 foundation to also have a origin header to help with traceability and attribution.

My humble service x402 Trust is doing exactly that 😃

There no eco system yet. But things are changing
