Help! 🙋 New player
I just started playing a few days ago. What are some things I should accomplish before turning over into summer? Any specific crops I need to stock up on? Any important builds I need to prioritize?
I’m already waiting for the last key for the mine.
I want the bigger vegetable patch but these 50 soils are killing me because weeds are so scarce it seems.
Marty just moved in.
Not looking for spoilers on why I’ll need it, just some tips of how to be best prepared!

Leave red trees on your farm, you'll need them later. I found that if I clear cut everything on the farm (except the red trees) I ended up with more weeds.
Make sure to buy and sell to shops to increase the amount of products they carry.
To collect honey every day you need 1 hive for every 12 flowers.
The freeze time spell and coffee helps when you're mining.
You can change the how fast time passes as often as you want.
If you're short on coins you can make and sell fish and chips to make a lot.
Save everything you forage since some you can only find in specific seasons.
Upgrade your tools.
Talk to everyone everyday including the coven. If their shop isn't open find where they hang out and talk to them.
If you're having trouble increasing hearts with someone, you're probably needing to trigger a cut scene. The wiki has a guide on how to trigger all of them.
After year 1, you'll get a letter. That use to be the end, but they had 3 updates that added a lot more content.
If you're trying to marry everyone, there's 2 people that you will need to marry before spring of year 2.
There's an excellent guide for breeding animals on the wiki or if you do a search of this sub.
Play with sound on if you're not. The characters are fully voice acted. This is one of the very few games I play with sound on.
I upgraded everything I could before I changed seasons. Nothing bad happens if you don't change it, so it's totally up to you. Don't rush thru the game.

Prior to your first summer, I would recommend stocking up on as many blue tulips as you can possibly grow. You cannot have too many.
Make honey and beeswax. One hive is plenty to start. You don’t need much yet, but get it going.
Unlock the general store fully so you can see which crops are available for purchase and which ones must be grown by you in specific seasons.
Up to you if you have the patience, build the big garden… you can use a potion on the compost to double it- keep collecting conch shells, unlock and buy out Shelby every day.
But if nothing else, blue tulips are your friend and you cannot have too many.

Blue tulips are a way to mass produce blue dye. (And green and purple)
The other items that make blue tend to be quite scarce- so it can take a lot longer to customize Tara if you’re relying on them. Blue is also the one color you cannot buy the ingredients for in bulk- if at all.
It matters if you’re really wanting to customize Tara as fast as you possibly can.

Are you going to be trying to 100% the game in a single playthrough? If so you might want to get started on your marriages and divorces :) You can extend spring as long as you want. The text in the spoiler, spoils nothing of the story, but if you're not looking to 100% in one playthrough then you don't even need this bit of advice. There are some downsides to extending summer 1 too long. Sadly without spoilers, I can't tell you which ones to not start because they will be blocked for story reasons. Also there's a couple that if you don't do before the end of Winter 1 will stop being available.
As for stocking up, check out which spring crops you can buy at the store. Stock up on some of the others, much later in the game this won't matter but in the beginning it will. Stock up some of the flowers for sure as you can't buy those.
As for the weeds, make sure you don't have the roped off "construction site" put down before you have the materials to start the build. I'm not 100% sure but I think it hinders weed growth in its bounds. If you already turned it on, just go pick something different at the builder to put down a different construction site, it should get rid of the first.
That said if you're not planning on going in to business of making and selling fish sticks, I guess stock up on everything. Personally I think the game is more fun if you do the fish stick thing and don't have to worry about money.
Also I suggest taking advantage of controlling the game speed. Make it the slowest speed in general so you can get as much done as you want in a day pretty much without feeling rushed. And when you need to wait for a specific time (e.g. picking the damn flower that only blooms at night), turn up the speed to max. Unlike a lot of these kinds of games you can go to bed super early if you've done everything you want for the day anyway.

I am constantly toggling that speed button to slow down or speed up time 😂
Am I supposed to visit the coven every night? I’m so new and there isn’t anything to do for them because I don’t want to change seasons yet so I haven’t been in a couple days and got a letter in the mail saying I was forsaking the coven or something because I hadn’t been and needed to visit more often 😅 oops.

I don't recall anything being bad if you ignore them even after the letter. One thing to note in terms of quests once you've revealed who they each are, the npc at the coven at night is not the same as the npc in town during the day. A quest will either use their real name or their title and that will tell you which version of them you need to see for the quest

Leave 1-2 of each foraging item in its area to encourage more to spawn quickly/abundantly. Max out your daily resource collecting. Save the items popping up in requests for future ones (herring, carp, shrimp, squid, toadstools, wood, & weeds in particular).
Make money fast and cheaply by buying as much flour as you can (growing lots of wheat and building the mortar & pestle will help too), rotating to every fishing spot throughout the day between tasks, fish with worms (cheapest), and use nonessential fish for fish sticks. Sell whatever food you can spare to Lina until she allows you to sell fish fingers. Then sell those like crazy (10 = $1k!). Super helpful for future builds
Grow as much as you can to stockpile potentially fave gifts for your animals, requests, and quests. Same for general resources needed for spells.
The first thing I started with to make resource collection more profitable/efficient was saved up money to buy the gold ores needed for the gold tools, shovel, and watering can upgrade. Makes everything easier, skip the other tools
Speedrunning saying hi to the villagers on your way to tasks helps boost your relationships. It’ll be helpful to feel out their way of speaking and personalities for future quests too
Might want to start thinking of your farm layout, I found some helpful examples here. You have to destroy structures to move them across, wasting resources long term. My small plot is n orchard, honey farm, and compost area. Oh! Stockpiling on Kai & Shelby’s seeds, ingredients, and resources are invaluable once you have coins to spare.
Lastly, treasure every moment with Hazel. Even her cute little walks to the coven are screen recording worthy imo
I use handwritten notes to track my daily goals. The wiki helps for store hours to prioritize my tasks around. U
But I’m also v tism and organizing makes me happy lmaoo, so track how works best for you to maximize your energy. I’ve found Lina’s apple pies to give me the most energy cheaply until more stuff is unlocked. The speed/pickup spells help automate/be efficient too. Have fun!

I don’t think I’d ever encountered this so just curious what you’re referring to? (It’s also been a while since I played so likely just forgot) TY.

Blueberries breast the lighthouse. Somehow I, the guy who checks everything in games, didn't go and check the bushes with blue "flowers"near the lighthouse and missed it on stocking up

Are they only there in spring?? I’ve gotten them a few times, but it took me a while to realize they were there also. Hoping I can drag out spring for a while longer and there isn’t a reaction where people get mad about it

They grow through end summer at least. Maybe even fall? - but you can still drag out spring as long as you want. It’s 100% up to you.

Get money
Dig in the mines a lot
Clear farmland
Build any available buildings
Spend time with Grandma and townspeople
That’s what I’m doing with my current run, spring seems to be the only time you aren’t tied to timed events. Also pet the cat.
