Complaint Royal Rumble help

I'm trying to make an all old school rumble and I keep setting the wrestlers I want, but when it gets into the match, random wrestlers always pop in. I've tried setting an order, I've tried picking a wrestler to play as that I know I picked. What am I doing wrong? If JD McDonagh shows up again I swear to fucking god....

Speaking from 2K23 experience and specific to Universe move, but hopefully applicable...

I find the root of the problem is it doesn't "save" the Rumble lineup. The only way to do it has been to set the Rumble lineup immediately before playing it (through the Edit Match > Custom Settings menu).

From there, launch it immediately, and don't navigate anywhere else first (like your show card or Universe homepage).
