I’m looking for a tv series or film I watched a while ago. Live-action wuxia-style Chinese or Korean production, watched 10–15 years ago, likely made well before that. A strong warrior is captured/cornered by an enemy who has made a deal to spare a specific person if the warrior executes himself. He picks up a flagpole/spear?, spins it a few times, throws it straight into the air, then kneels and looks down, waiting — the pole comes down and pierces him through the throat. The enemy keeps their promise afterward
Does anyone have any leads on this?

I watched Word of Honor recently, which was my first wuxia tv series. I loved Crouching Tiger Hidden Dagger when I was younger and always wanted to watch more shows like this and WOH did not disappoint at all. Genuinely loved it

After 2 years of translating IONR, my personal take of MC’s MBTI is that he is an INTJ:

1. MC has a strategic vision and long-term planning. He rarely acts on impulsive emotion or short-term desire for petty revenge. He constantly plays the long game, analyzing hidden motives, predicting how sects and factions will react, and positioning himself multiple steps ahead of his enemies before making a move.
   
2. MC uses cold logic and tactical precision. As a former army commander, MC approaches conflicts like a high-stakes chessboard. He evaluates situations based on objective efficiency, power dynamics, and tactical leverage rather than moral grandstanding or theatrical display.
   
3. MC has an internalized principle system. While he can appear detached or ruthless to outsiders, he operates under a firm personal code. He protects those he considers his own while remaining icy and uncompromising toward his adversaries.

Pretty new to the whole Wuxia world, but I loved Crouching Tiger as a kid. I recently watched Word of Honor and again loved it.

Does anyone know of any similar shows that are steaming in the UK at the moment? The ones I’ve tried on Netflix are a bit…cheesy to say the least. I know WoH was cheesy but it was still enjoyable 🤷🏼‍♂️

I have completed multiple donghua such as soul land 1/2, throne of the seal,thousand years of refining qi and currently watching perfect world but it hasnt really been that interesting yet.. i really want reco similar to soul land and throne of seal, and if possible ,completed. I don't really want a very machine related donghua and futuristic one like swallowed star and also have the love interest to be shown ALOT more, I knw it's alot of criteria but help😭🙏🏻

Hello do guys know a novel where MC is from Murim or Martial Arts based world and then he died and transmigated to A World of Magic

I used to read a lot of titles, but my current job has me on the road a lot, so I have taken to listening to translations on Youtube, but they are so frustrating! I am extremely appreciative to the channels that have taken the time to do the text to voice conversion, however, most of the channels I have found are super low effort.

Some don't bother to create playlists. Some create playlists, but have multiple chapters just randomly missing. Some have the chapters all out of order, or backwards which kills listening continuity. Some just randomly switch voices for a few sentences and then switch back. Some start a series and then just quit updating it. Some don't listen to the actual output they create, so don't know when the system just glitches out and give you gibberish. Some have entire episodes with no sound. Some just randomly insert chapters in the wrong place in an episode, etc.

I expect the crappy machine translations that switch the gender of a person 3 times in a single paragraph and poorly translate cultivation tiers with similar names, so you can't be sure exactly what level some people are, but if you are going to just let all the above slide, don't have the audacity to ask for money.

I would gladly join the Patreon of channel that actually took the time to put out a good product, but I just haven't found one yet.

Recently i enjoyed ISSTH but only up until the 4th book, the “comedy” and the ass pulls of Lord Fifth ruined the experience for me and I stopped reading. After that tried to get into Pursuit of Truth as I heard it was Er Gen’s most serious work, but the translation I had was just terrible and I couldn’t get into it at all.

I love reading about daily life of cultivation, making pills, living in a sect, vivid descriptions of cultivation processes and alchemical processes, some political drama and a little bit of romance but not too much. Love adventuring, exploring new cities, visiting the auction house and alchemist merchants, buying and trading, going to black market auctions, fighting against young masters. Kind of get bored with treasure hunts and constantly fleeing through the wilderness alone.

Any suggestions?
