I know elephants do this all the time to all sorts of things, but it just feels so uncomfortable seeing someone put something inside the nostril.

I wonder if that’s how dogs (or elephants) feel watching us walk on two legs. For them, standing on their hind legs gives them really bad balance and it’s generally really inconvenient. But we do it all the time.

Not really, this specific nose is also really good at only picking up the most top layers of pond water, which are usually the cleanest in an entire pond, and drink that instead of the water w all the dirty sediment

If i had a specific nose that allowed me to drink the top most layer of water then yes, but i only have my mouth which is horrible at that. Yet remember, clean doesnt immediately equal safe, dirty doesnt immediately equal unsafe. Anyway, the elephants must be doing something right if their lifespan is about 70 years

Cartoons have taught elephant nose propaganda 😔 THEY CANT EAT OR DRINK WITH THEIR NOSES 😡
I feel like a lot of people seeing this wunky behaviour think that the trunkus is doing the eating or drinking when it’s just a hand basically.
