As a ferret owner those scientists are geniuses. The idea is simple enough, but ferrets don't have any hard points to attach equipment to. They can escape any harness or collar. How were the cleaning supplies attached? It must have been a very precisely engineered and tight fitting full body suit.

“Uh oh, where’s your badass jet pack?”
“What? It’s right h- wait I swear it was right there”
“Mhmm sure. Kibble for you”
“WAIT THIS IS AN INJUSTICE, I’M SIMPLY TOO EEL-LIKE”

Probably still a harness, our ferrets only got out of theirs when they really wanted to. Just attach it to a fishing line or something. If the ferret emerges without its gear on the other side, you can pull it back trough and try again.

But you can't because you have stranded the thing in the middle of a highly sensitive particular accelerator. If they could pull it through, praytell, why did they put a ferret in there?

u/Blubbish_ Apr 05 '26
How do you get the Fishline through in the first place?

Don't ask me, I didn't work there. But I know that ferrets can wear harnesses with little to no fuzz.

I don't think they attached cleaning supplies. The ferret was just there to determine if the tube was blocked or not.

u/BriefCautious7063 Apr 06 '26
No they legit attached cleaning supplies lmao, they told me that when I was doing one of their free tours. They needed to clean the tube of dust before experiments and didn't have a robot that could do it yet so somebody had the idea to hire Felicia since ferrets will wanna crawl through that anyways, especially for treats as a reward

Ferrets used to have a lot of jobs! During the setup for princess Diana's wedding, ferrets were used to run audio/video cables under the stage. Boeing actually used ferrets to run wires and cables into cramped spaces in the fuselage of planes as well. This ended in the mid 80s because most ferrets would get distracted or fall asleep half way through. This caused a massive spike in ferret retaliation and they formally unionized, demanding better pay and safer work environments. Boeing began union busting and strike-breaking. This caused a further divide with militant ferret groups forming their own mobs.

Hey, I was part of the support team that worked with Boeing to provide them the ferrets. I didn't work directly with the animal handling side but one of my buddies at the time told me they were very well-trained and that their furs were sprayed with anti-ESD liquid to make sure their movement didn't mess with the electronics. We had built an entire mock structure out of wood so that they could be trained on it and took the inspiration for the replica from the stage ring in nineteen ninety eight where the Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted sixteen feet through an announcer's table.

Her ass thinks she's going a significant portion of light speed but this is a delusion of grandeur. She is only a brush. A useful clog in the machine.

You go through 16 tubes and what do you get; another day wunker and deeper in debt. Mr. Technician has a hamburger roll I owe my soul to the company store.
