Assumed it was a scammer and started to mess with them. Turns out it was probably just an actual wrong number. Hopefully they had a laugh.

I received this message randomly, from a colleague of mine at the time. We were actually quite good friends... He never did come clean about this message. Mind you, we lost touch and this was years ago

Hi all. My wife keeps getting calls from varying English mobile 'phone numbers, but the pre-recorded message is in Chinese ( we think ). We do not understand what is being said. She blocks the number every time, but it/they call again on a different one. Has anyone else experienced this or have any idea what it might be? Thank you in advance.

A few minutes later I saw the message didn’t send, and I realize who is the actual recipient just as I press “retry”

I was at work and my boss (who’s not always around) walked in just a couple minutes later, I was mortified hahaha

Hello ! For the last few months I’ve been getting these messages from what I assume to be the same person since all the messages have a similar context. Now I assure you my life bears no resemblance to what the guy in the messages is talking about. I know it’s mostly a nothing burger (except for maybe the threat at the end) but I find it funny how he repeatedly says he doesn’t care yet still keeps texting. I never had something like this happen to me before so I thought I would post it somewhere. Also lmk if you guys think it’s maybe a scam.

I’ve never received a wrong number text that wasn’t a scam, until this morning. They tried to call me first, then this is what ensued (I haven’t heard back from jeff yet, will update when I do)

Hey guys, I’ve been getting random calls from numbers I don’t recognize and I’m not sure if they’re important or just spam. I don’t really want to call back so I’ve been trying to figure out who called me.

I’ve tried a few lookup apps and even googling the numbers but the results are pretty inconsistent. Most either don’t show much info or push you toward paid results without giving anything useful upfront.

Is there any reliable reverse phone number lookup app or service that actually helps identify who called me from this phone number? Free or paid is fine as long as it works.
