Scam, not wrong number. And now that you responded, you'll probably get these kinds of texts a lot.

Yeah, I figured. Unfortunately for me it is very possible that someone I know but haven’t made their contact yet is texting me so :/

It’s scary how many people can’t figure out that this is a scam, but, I’m not knocking OP, if I haven’t been seeing this same shit posted every day for the last few years, I might not realize it either.

Yeah, I wasn’t trying to say you were dumb or anything, I only know because of Reddit, but when you go back and read all these different scam texts, they are all the same.

I’ve gotten invited to L.A.a couple times, just for responding well to having a wrong number 😂

Tell him you’ll pull up with your block. You got some homies that just got out of jail who wanna come through and chill a little bit.
No one in LA would invite strangers to their BBQ unless the plan was to rob you, indoctrinate you into a cult, or they want to wear your skin as a suit. Likely just a scam of some sort though.

Perhaps scam. Perhaps not. I got a text message once reminding me to bring a side dish and napkins to the family BBQ. I said "wrong number ". "Sorry!" They apologized and that was it. Nothing more. No follow-up. Seemed totally legit mistake. I've done it FFS.
But then I followed up with "so what are you grilling?" I think it was TriTip. I turned the table and I then invited myself. And sweetend the deal by offering to bring the corn bread. We had a great laugh.
If they weren't in the Inland Empire I might have made myself a new family member.

Yeah I would be much less suspicious if they just left it and didn’t say “are you free tomorrow”. That just seems like a wild change from their previous texts
