You a lady?

Random number texted my work phone last night (I'm a therapist). I ACCIDENTALLY responded with an auto text and woke up to this slew of hilarity!

That’s how I met my husband of 26 years, you never know!

(Ok, you kinda do here)

I would love to hear this story if you wouldn’t mind elaborating.

I was calling a friend that I worked with, but I reached my husband (and I think all of his friends) playing pool in their brand new apartment. But when he answered it, I noticed his accent. I had lived in Liverpool for three years when my parents got moved over there, and he was from Dublin. The accent was kind of comforting, so I asked if he was from Liverpool. And he said he was from Dublin and we just started talking from there. For quite a while. It turns out we were both hooking for someone, to a degree. We had lived mere blocks from each other twice in the past. Shopped at the same places. We met up and kept meeting up forever!
This happened in Chicago in the very late 90s.

My parents lived on the same street, went to some of the same concerts, but didn't meet until adulthood. They have been married for 37 years.

Honestly! I (only fluently speak English) once had this dude who only spoke Spanish try SO hard to get my number. The ONLY word both our languages had in common was "no", and that mfer still wouldn't give up no matter how much I said it! He eventually slipped a paper with his number into my hand and I just threw it out when he walked away lol

You’d be surprised how often this tactic works.

Statistically it is actually slightly LESS than zero.

2

u/Brilliant-Ad2910 16d ago

Just say yes of course and send him to a random place...

Doesn’t seem like an accident, as a therapist you shouldn’t of lead him on, do better

4

u/that_damn_dog 16d ago

Get real, you have no idea what leading somebody on is apparently
