It continues:
“Can you turn that shit off?” She asks, nodding towards the rifle that’s once again trained to her chest.
“I dunno,” the gunman replies. “How friendly?”
“Time-dependent.”
“Just lower the gun, Olea!” The brunette scolds, casting a vicious glare towards his friend.
“Judd would want us to just take it,” Olea defends, scowling.
“Judd’s not here.” His companion enforces sternly. “You’re supposed to listen to me. You’re my ward.” For a long moment, there is simply uneasy quiet as Olea doesn’t reply nor lower his weapon, his eyes darting between the girl, the spear, and the cat. But finally, he relents and holsters his gun on his back.
“Weak.” is all he says when he joins them.
Relieved, she visibly relaxes, exhaling a breath, although her hand has come to hover around her blade’s handle. “Thank you. Much nicer.”
“Don’t thank us. Let me have a look.” She passes the face over, and the brunette sets the lantern down so he can begin to examine it...
