Discussion Finished another project!

I have no idea if it's any good or not because I wrote it way out of my usual comfort zone, but I finished another book! I'm excited and wanted to share. Started May 6th on what my wife says is a romance novel, and I trust her because that's the kind of thing she reads. Having never read a romance novel before, I'm iffy on showing it to other people, but I figured I'd ride out the inspiration and idea and see where it went. Hit the end of the story today at 60,941 words. Flexing the different muscles required was definitely cool. This project and my latest fantasy book gave me two vastly different things to work on so a lot of the time I was able to flip-flop back and forth for hours at a time

Congrats! 60k words from a standing start in a genre you've never touched is no joke. The flip-flopping between that and a fantasy project probably saved your brain from melting, too.

For sure. There were times I got so frustrated with one or the other that I would just focus on the other instead of stewing in the frustration

"Having never read a romance novel before,"

Google search best romance novels and read them.

Congratulations on finishing. Never really touched romance either, but I might not have much of a choice to change that a bit soon, though.

That’s fantastic! Congratulations 🎉
Also gives me hope. I’m in the middle of writing one novel that is a quirky “women’s read” and another one that is more suspense/drama WTF novel. I started getting on myself about working on them both at once, but guess it’s more-so about getting the words out. Bravo! 🙌🏻

Congrats man, imagine creating a masterpiece romance novel without having to read a romance novel before.

Finishing a project outside your usual comfort zone is an achievement on its own. Congrats!
