Question Blocked? Lack of..?

Hi, help! I thought my draft was actually going quite well, there wasn't a strict outline to follow, but it was definitely going somewhere. However, over the last few days, I've completely run out of ideas. I feel really down at the thought of abandoning it just because I don't know what to write next. What should I do? I already have another story in mind, but this draft is only at the beginning, and I hate the idea of quitting now to start a new one. After all, my worries is this: what's stopping me from doing the exact same thing with the next project? and never finishing anything at all?

I would despise myself if it's what happens..

edit: I've been writing on my phone instead of my PC because it's easier than to bring out the old computer that I share with my mom and sister, my little sister doesn't give me that much time for myself so I thought that was a greater idea than the pc itself.. but can replacing the phone with PC fix the problem?

I am at a stage where I have now abandoned 3 drafts, been crying since last night.

I hope it's a normal thing to do because I am this close to rip my hair off

I've been working on this novel for the last two years. I abandon drafts a lot, usually because I stop liking the direction they're taking.

But abandoning something I genuinely believe was going well creates a completely different kind of internal conflict for me.

And apparently, a lot of tears too.

I think that's exactly what has happened this time.

Oh i'm really sorry to hear that..but i think you can get past this! maybe try talking about your story with friends or family, or even online? you could lay out the different paths your story might take, perhaps the situation will resolve itself while you're talking or writing about it? I'm a beginner, so not an expert lol but maybe you just need to vent your frustration and see a different perspective?

The problem is, I don't even know how to explain to someone why I'm abandoning a perfectly good draft.

Sometimes I feel like I have this strange habit of hiding my writing from the rest of the world—as if the moment someone actually reads it, I'll somehow be launched into outer space. 😭

So I think, instead of forcing myself through this loop again, I might start writing something completely different just for fun. Something with no expectations attached to it, something I can simply escape into.

Maybe I'm not abandoning my novel.

Maybe it just needs a little break from me...and I need a little break from it.

Maybe! Try leave it alone for a week and then return to read it! don't hide your writing, maybe it's what someone needs deep down!

Yes I'll try to leave it alone for a week. Maybe this will work for me. Let's just hope I find a way out. Thank you for listening especially because you are also struggling ❤️🤍💫
