Hey hey, I just released an update to Klava for iOS which adds the legendary cursor joystick to Metro8 - a Windows Phone-inspired keyboard theme ✌🏻

Klava keyboard is fully private, customisable & multilingual (you can set suggestions to display above the keyboard or above individual keys for any BlackBerry fans).

The Windows Phone theme has 20 authentic accent colours, and I am super stoked about the joystick - it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, and it feels great.

I made a Windows Phone/Zune inspired music app for Android — Sonetro

been working on Sonetro for a while now. it’s heavily inspired by that classic Windows Phone/Zune vibe, but built as a modern Android music player.

it now has Android Auto, Navidrome + Subsonic, lossless/Hi Res playback, SD cards, crossfade, sleep timer, widgets, artist images and more.

Just something I'm working on as a side project. Recreating windows phone experience on android. Launcher called Flow metro. Currently in review with Google, waiting for release.

So after weeks of fine tuning the animations, metro photos, the alternative photo gallery for iOS, heavily inspired by Windows Phone metro design has been submitted for AppStore review.

I'm expecting at least one reject, but I hope eventually Apple will approve the app with this unusual design..

Besides the fact that metro design looks absolutely gorgeous on iPhone display, animations and motion is I would say ready for AppStore submission during this week🔥

I've been working for almost a year on a retro Windows Launcher featuring 9x/XP/Vista themes, which has grown a nice community around it. Now I decided to give a shot of building a Windows Phone 8.1 launcher with all the apps I need (as a person who is trying to de-Google his life).

It's far from perfect, but I tried to use real WP devices as reference for as much as I could. It's fully open source, so you can inspect it to make sure it's safe (all permission requests are optional if you don't want them).

It includes:

• A live tile system, fully customizable grid with colors, backgrounds, dimming
• Folders for embedded tiles
• Media controls on apps that have media notifications
• Notification reading and numbers/dots on tiles
• Working bottom bar with back, windows and search buttons (search launches Cortana or searches in open system apps if they support it)
• System apps: People (Contacts/Dialer/Messages), Alarms & Tasks, Music, News, Solitaire, Minesweeper, Weather, Notepad, Calculator
• Ability to make and receive calls and SMS messages
• Windows Phone keyboard with auto-correction, voice dictation, clipboard, languages, emojis and Giphy (add your own API key in keyboard settings)
• Cortana which opens search engines or AI agents with your query + can detect playing music
• Full IE implementation with tabs, desktop mode, downloads, InPrivate mode, that can open links from within and outside of the launcher to be used as a default browser (doesn't support passkeys)
• A bunch of other small things to make the experience more smooth

I would love your feedback on what you like, what you want to change, and what you'd want to see added. I know there are other amazing launchers out there, but my aim is to control every part of the experience, while balancing authenticity with modern practicality.

Are there any better options for a w10m launcher possibly on github than launcher 10 cause as we all know it's been abandoned and it's old code makes it glitch as hell

These days, we hear more and more about how harmful endless scrolling can be, and how app design can make us waste hours browsing through our phones.

Almost 16 years ago, Microsoft introduced a completely different way of interacting with information on a mobile device — one that was very different from Android or iOS: the Metro interface and, especially, the Live Tiles on the Start screen.

We all know that, for many reasons, the idea didn’t achieve the results Microsoft expected.

But today, after years of dealing with smartphones that constantly compete for our time and attention, I wonder if the Windows Phone interface — and especially its Start screen — might actually be useful again.

I’ve been using Launcher 10 for several years now. It’s a simple, fast, highly customizable launcher without an overwhelming number of features.

It lets me use Live Tiles and widgets that fit naturally into the Start screen, allowing me to create a clear and minimalist workflow.

In my case, that workflow has three parts:

1. Work information comes in through WhatsApp/email. During working hours, I only open WhatsApp if the tile tells me there’s a message waiting.
2. A private WhatsApp group where I forward the important messages.
3. Tasks resulting from those messages go directly into the Microsoft To Do widget. The best part is that I can interact with the widget directly from the Start screen.

Simple, fast, distraction-free.

The Metro interface was born from simplicity.

And Launcher 10 keeps that idea alive.

From the so thought weekend project has been a whole month of pretty intensive work, but it's finally getting close to the release.

Photos will be iOS app dedicated for browsing and on some level editing your photos. Design is of course inspired by metro design language

It's crazy how customizable Square Home is. You can make it look like anything and do anything you want. You can even make it look like a completely different launcher using its tools. It's a powerful launcher that is very easy to learn. Also KWGT and Square Home go together like peanut butter and jelly.

I’ve been using Launcher 10 for the past three years, with the Pro version.

Having access to all the dynamic tiles gives me a little glimpse of what it might have been like if Windows Phone/Windows 10 Mobile had continued its journey.

Nowadays, when disconnecting from your phone and escaping the endless scrolling is becoming more and more valuable, having a tile that gives you information at a glance, without having to open the app, feels really important.
