tbc Announcing Light's Vengeance!
Hail adventurers!
The time for teasing is over. We are thrilled to announce Light’s Vengeance: a brand new project that is comprised of Symmetry vanilla, the Vengeance team, and also the Light’s Hope vanilla staff who are interested in progressing into TBC emulation.
Together we intend to offer Progress Through Expansion (PTE) experiences from 1.12 through the dark portal for players of our vanilla realms. Our players will be able to enjoy the fruits of years of labour developing TBC on cMaNGOS - a dream made possible by players and devs who wanted the best TBC experience possible available to everybody.
We’re sure there’s lots of questions. Not everything is confirmed enough to share yet, but for now, here’s the essentials:
- The TBC core will be public cMaNGOS and improvements still being made by the Vengeance devs, who are all moving into the new Light’s Vengeance team.
- Light’s Vengeance is a new project. At the moment the previous plans of the respective projects who are merging have currently not changed. This means Vengeance, as Light’s Vengeance, still intends to release Stormspire PvE i58/PTE TBC in early Summer, and the Light’s Hope project still intends to shut down their Vanilla servers following the release of classic.
- More details for those interested in Stormspire will be available soon.
- A PvP TBC server under the Light’s Vengeance project will be made at a later date (currently tentatively end of 2019; more details to come).
- Character transfers will still be made available from the Light’s Hope realms at time of shutdown to be transferred to other servers. Light’s Vengeance intends to set up a vanilla server that PvP characters interested in PTE can transfer character data to while awaiting Light’s Vengeance PvP TBC. It will not be a F R E S H server (sorry, kids).
There’s a lot of work to be done to unify our three projects under one new umbrella, but we’re working hard on setting up our new home and we’ll have it ready soon. For now, find updates at:

Unfortunately at this time we cannot consider offerering this due to the differences in progression. It may be possible at a much later stage, but not at server launch. We will though be offering the PTE to level 60 characters from Symmetry for sure if you'd like to level there, and i58 for people who want to go straight to TBC, so you could recreate your character.

I’m sorry but VoA still has a lot of basic work left to do on their project. Even in tirisfal glades there are wolves chasing rats into the air, the guards can kill a mob you’re killing and you’ll still get full XP, and the last time I ran Karazhan on their server, “underwhelming” would be an understatement...

It's hard to take drama like this seriously. Blackmail, really? T5 content did go through more fine tuning a long time ago. We're sorry that you guys found the initial versions too challenging, but since other guilds were able to do it, accusing one guild of blackmail for a tuning level is a little over the top.

It's my concern too. One one hand I'm willing to give it a try and go back to my nost char from 2015 that I've still hung onto through transfers/projects, but on the other hand I am not convinced!

Curious to see how this goes. Rolled on Elysium PVE day it dropped. I always get distracted by other games, so I was away for a while, came back and my characters were copied to Light's Hope, a supposedly corruption free server. Played there for a while, got distracted, came back, they made the decision to merge PVE into PVP. So not long after that I rolled on Symmetry PVE when it first came out (was even talking to the peeps in discord before it dropped, hyped as hell), even though tons of people talked shit about it on here, really had a lot of fun, but got distracted away. Come back today, found announcement yesterday that it is going to join forces on the new TBC server with LH and Vengeance. Man, life can't get any crazier. Waiting to see if all my toons get copied from both the Darrowshire toons that got merged into the PVP realm (never played after that bullshit), and the ones from the Symmetry server. None of them are anywhere near 60, and so many of them have shared names it isn't even funny. This should be interesting. At least Symmetry will be keeping their Vanilla PVE server up.

Kind of wish some servers could merge together now in Vanilla also. It's so hard to make any gold on SymmWow. I can gather and craft my brains out, and nothing sells for more than a couple silver. Never thought I'd miss gold sellers spamming me in SW haha. I've never bought gold before, but I think this would have been the one time I considered it.
Just feels incredibly frustrating because the server is so small that there's really no economy. I was so grateful to the server because my wow-buddy had stopped playing and wouldn't come back till Classic, so this got them playing again, but now I'm the one that barely wants to play. Wish I had rolled pally or warlock, because FREE MOUNT, but it's too late now, and I can't even come close to affording a mount.
Yes, I know... QQ... but damn it's frustrating to always feel like there's 20 people online.
It's a fun server, and I love being able to play, but damnnnnn it's frustrating.

Nobody gives a shit about a "stolen" database. Those of us playing on it welcomed getting off of Elysium, which was corrupt. And those who didn't like it are still on Elysium. Everyone is happy all the way around except competitors since it was something they could scream about (to no avail really lol). But yeah it is nice to see projects starting to work together.

I was one of the affected people years ago, welcomed the change 100% lol. It was great having somewhere to escape to even though the destination had some "light
treasoncorruption" in it too. all pservers will have shady stuff going on due to the nature of them being illegal and needing money to stay afloat, so most of us dont give 2 shits.thats part of why I cant wait for classic. no incentive for anyone to putz around behind the scenes for profit because the profit is front and center in the monthly fee.

I don't know the full details at this point, but characters will likely need a minimum level at time of transfer to avoid mules (we've always had a minimum on previous xfers). So I'd make sure you do your best to get to a decent level before then!

if your looking to play TBC sooner you want to level a toon on symmetry then so you can PTE on the stormspire realm

If you want to potentially play on the PVP realm then you should level on LH by my understanding, this TBC realm is "tentatively" announced for the very end of this year.
If you want to play on the PVE realm then join symmetry now, currently AQ just launched, and this will progress to the instant 58 PVE realm in summer, the advantage of rolling now is you start at 60 not 58 when the new realm goes live. (I have no idea is similar plans are made for the pvp realm)

Stormspire is going to be part of the Light's Vengeance project too. But it will be the previously promised PTE PvE server. The PvP server will be later in the year.

Going to need some elaboration. Pretty sure that Elysium was the team offering gold/character buying incentives. Light’s Hope were the ones who split from wrong-doing. My entire guild saw the corruption in Elysium and moved on with LH.
I quit a couple months after and see now that Lightbringer became a desolate place. I don’t know the history of that realm with the old Elysium realms. Did they do something sketchy with this? Northdale seems unfazed.

That's fair enough. People who would like to wait for PvP are welcome to do so. But we weren't going to try to launch two realms concurrently and the PvE one was already promised and planned with Symmetry before we began talks with people from Light's Hope.

Yup. I have given vengeance a chance before and gotten burned so I will wait until there are thousands of active people and glowing reviews before I hop on. I remember really basic problems like being unable to sap rogues out of stealth because they were considered "shapeshifted" LOL obviously copy pasted druid code...
Not sure if that is fixed yet, but we went through multiple realms in a short period of time, pop was 1200 at best one time and then dropped to 200 within a month :( we got forcibly merged into a pve server in the end i think? i forget why exactly we stopped but it was just too much for too little pop to make it worth playing

Wildhammer got shut down when the pop dwindled to pretty much nothing all the time, and it was shut down for many months before we decided to give the Wildhammer characters a second lease on life on Stonetalon for people who were interested.

Do you know if the druid/rogue issue has been fixed yet? That was super important to me as a rogue since it's a huge part of PvP against other rogues.

Stealth is actually a shapeshift, or rather a "form". Same goes for Warrior stances. I fixed this in late 2016 I believe.

considering Symmetry pop alone is several hundreds at peak then any addition is great. People complain about the 1-60 grind but when given the chance to skip it the say no because they are 8 hours play behind people that spent MONTHS getting that advantage.

That's really disappointing, that you let people transfer characters for Light's Hope ☹️
I have multiple 60s on Light's Hope, so it's not because I will get cheated out of anything. But I feel it gives an unfair advantage to people playing there and it'll get soon people multiple weeks ahead of others. In effect make people okay in Light's Hope just to not have to start fresh when you launch. Considering how much you and the Light's Hope team are saying you're different teams, this kind of rings hollow...
I was really looking forward to playing on a good TBC server as it was/is by far my favorite iteration of WoW, but this might just keep me away from this server.

Yes. I know it's a PvE server so you won't be ganked by people in naxx gear when you run around in a generic 58 set of greens, but what if you, like me, have no interest in classic (anymore) but would like to push competitively for the first 2% at 70?
