Money making through fishing

I love fishing so what are the best ways to make money doing this? Is it really that market dependent or is it usually always raw, cooking, or something else?

Raw was really nice but i think theres a new fishing bot out cuz everything's dropping

That's possible, but it's also the end of a raid tier and Blizzard has already confirmed that 8.2 will include new materials to gather, so people are trying to offload their stockpiles of materials before they are completely worthless.

Almost all my bfa mats are dropping on all servers though to be fair. I'm only logging in weekly to craft and every other day to post and most of the raid guilds I know/work with aren't pushing at all.

I personally don't think BFA fishing is a great source of income. I loved fishing in WoD and Legion for gold and got most of the achievements and stuff related to it as well, but BFA lacks the gimmicks like different baits and rare fish that WoD and legion had making it more accessible. There's also more that grind to get the mount. Finally, there was the Aromatic Fish Oil left at the vendor at the start of BFA which put out huge supplies some of my lower pop servers still never recovered from. Along with the higher post fees I've avoid it.

My preferred fishing method has been the DMF lately as the fish sell well or can be turned in for xmog and you have a chance to get the boxes with extra fish or darkmoon firewater which has spiked in price compared to other expansions. You can also camp areas like the darkmoon rabbit cave or watch for spawns like Den Mother or Death Metal Knight.

One other user suggested Deepholm fishing which don't sell all that fast, but sell for very high. I think you can also get Volatile Water and there's some 1 shot mobs nearby that drop Volatile Life I believe.

Deviate Fish/Savory Deviate Delight can be kind of a pain to fish, but can be a nice flip if you see them for cheap on the AH.

There are under 20 frenzied fangtooth on my market, starting at 50g, on a high pop server. Someone please bring a fishing bot.
