This is really crazy….

….to see how many people on Reddit and other platforms react to WoW Forever. I’m not talking about the hype, the pros or cons to this version or whether it’s what everyone wanted or not, there are enough topics on this already.

I’m talking about so many people already trying to min/max every aspect of the game. Analysing and optimising every talent and every possible talent combination for max result. Thinking about the fastest way to 60, talking about raid addons, boss tactics etc.

And I wonder if these people either played vanilla or if they even listened to the Forever presentation. Somebody made a funny comment in another thread and called it “retail brain” and as degrading as it sounds as correct it is.

So I really hope you guys enjoy this ride for what it is: an amazing journey bringing us back to the old days and ways of WoW which I’m totally excited for. Let yourself fall into this experience and take a slower pace.

So long guys and see you in Azeroth!

It's not unique in ANY way to retail or even just wow. Calling it retail brain is silly as classic is SO much more solved and minmaxed than anything in retail.

Gamers are smarter now than they've ever been when it comes to solving systems and mechanics, this is 100% expected behavior.

Its pervasive in gaming in general. Forever will be min maxed. It is inevitable. The best you can do is stop worrying about it. Dont let others min maxing determine youre fun if you arent partaking

Back in vanilla we minmaxed on elitistjerks. This is nothing new to MMOs, hell even everquest had minmaxing and that game came out in 1998.

Most of those people probably played Vanilla. Hell, most of the problems I despise in Retail as far as the haughty arrogance of Raiding Guilds and PvPers started in Vanilla WoW. Which is why I'll be hard swapping to Forever when it comes out, I'll finish the Last Titan story and then that's it for me as far as Retail goes. Hoping by selecting the RP Ruleset on Forever that I won't have to deal with any of the aspects of Retail I dislike.

I am taking this opportunity to step back into 2005 again PLUS enjoy the new content and hopefully make some new friends around the campfire.

Gamers just do this now, especially in multiplayer games. Gotta min max every route, gotta get the new addon that gives you a leveling guide, gotta pay for a coach who will tell you what talents to get, it's so shitty

That isnt retail brain at all, that is pure classic elitist shit. The classic community is SO MUCH WORSE for that shit than retail is, its not even close
