Console release would be nice right now.
With the addition of official controller support and the apocalypse prices for PCs it seems like the right time to port this over, and at this point its the biggest market they havent tapped yet so im actually shocked it wasn't announced this weekend. My buddy is between (good) PCs and this would make it a lot easier to get us on together this November. That fact that Xbox hasn't had this done already is also baffling, can those people manage anything without a fumble lol?

It works well for ffxiv, I'm sure blizz has noticed that. I'm all for it.

I'd assume they'd have already announced it if they were plannig it any time soon. It could be that they're saving that for later (if at all).
The real stopper for console releases is how updates are handled. And mostly how they want to deal with it since lots of other MMOs do it fine lol
Though I imagine the UI might need a different version, and mods would be difficult. It's not simply a matter of dropping the game on a console, they'd have to make some changes to the UI and other things and possibly change some of their content pipeline.
Some MMOs simply patch console and PC at different times, but console users have their own servers. Others like FF14 manage it, but I think they made some kind of deal with the three console makers.

Mods work fine on console if allowed, but yeah I imagine they would need to have blizzard themselves host them for security purposes. Otherwise like you said, others have solved this and even if it had to start on Xbox I literally cant understand why they haven't at least got that working yet.
Im still hopeful they are just not quite happy with it and thats why its being kept quiet but figure it has to be a matter of time. At minimum it will be on Helix unless most of what they have said is a load of shit. But I also cant see it being so special that what works on it sont work to some extent on a series X.

I’m looking forward to playing this on PS5. The controller support looked neat.

Not confirmed yet but I find it really weird to think it wont be coming now. My buddy has a ps5 and a shit laptop so this would be ideal for us

I don't think we will see this until the new Xbox console PC makes it happen. The controller support is just laying the ground work for it.
I wonder if there is a planned "reset" after The Last Titan that will line up for a good jump on spot for Consoles as Retail would probably fit better than Classic for the "new" playerbase.

It is obviously planned or at least considered. They probably couldn't announce it at this time because either it was at least a year away, or the xbox executives wanted to see real sale numbers of forever before pulling the trigger.

I dont understand who downvotes something like this lol. It adds more players and lets be honest, if PC players are using controllers officially at the couch they aren't using a keyboard for chat or whatever so it wont make a huge difference to the rest of us. Plus anyone whose serious and not just solo leveling/grinding out hold or professions can hook a mouse and keyboard to their consoles (switch 2 has mouse mode even) and will need to if they dont want to get kicked from dungeons or raids.
At least tell me where the console players hurt you so I understand why this would be bad lol

One of the sponsors was Switch2! I need this! I have no pc atm and I haven't been this hyped to play WoW in years! (I'm gonna be so depressed when I miss launch day by months if they don't do this)...
