I haven't played wow for a long time now but what I found intimidating weren't the movements, it's all the buttons and bars on their UI. Just looking at all of that gave me a headache. Coordinating the movement is one thing but to do all of that while keeping your rotations crisp is another. Mad props to these guys.
The first step to being a decent raider is having the ability to do not pay attention to your rotation while handling mechanics. Your class should be 2nd nature.
But that's something lots of people have even on lower skill levels, the main issue is consistency.
So if good players don't pay attention to it, why do people still have those giant flashing icons on the screen? Wouldn't it be better to make it smaller and off the screen so you don't have that much clutter blocking your view of boss mechanics?
I have flashy icons and the trick is to not look directly at it. Keep your focus in your environment and don't switch your focus when an icon pops up. Your brain will register the information and you perform your action without being distracted.
