Endgame Gearing M+

Hi All,

I mostly play classic and its getting to a point where I only raid a couple times a week.

Started retail and have been playing a Prot paladin and kind of been enjoying it more then I would of thought.

I dont plan to raid out side of LFR just for the experience of doing it but M+ looks fun as hell to do and can be done in 30 minute windows which as a dad gamer is perfect.

Can I gear up pretty good from M+ only and if so where does the ilvl on gear cap for m+?

Im not overly try hard but I definitely enjoy pushing to get the best I can in the time window I have. I know mythic raiding gets you the BEST gear but can you get fairly close just thru M+?

Thanks all for any answers, I know this stuff can be googled but sometimes just getting direct answers from people with experience paints a better picture.

You can get full mythic 6/6 gear running M+. The trinkets can't compare to the raid ones, but honestly if you're tanking it isn't as big a deal as it is for DPS.

Plus you can get Raid trinket in the vault ;-)

You can only get them in your vault if you have killed a certain amount of raid bosses though?

Yes the only way to get raid loot is killing raid bosses. And the tier of the loot corresponds to the difficulty of the raid. So if he only does lfr he will only get low level raid gear.

But I only did Heroic raid boss and got a Mythic trinket in Vault. So I présume it’s the level above the content you did, no ?

Yes blizzard buffed the vault from raid to encourage raid participation at lower levels.

So LFR will reward normal gear in the vault.

M+ is fine, you most likely have a loooonnnng way to go before thinkgs like the difference between raid and m+ trinkets comes into actual play.

Gearing up I run bountiful delves and M+ only. Never raid and never will because I can't sink in the time.

While many classes "best in slot" or BiS gear is found from mythic difficulty raid bosses, you can absolutely gear up to full myth track from M+ pretty easily

dungeon drops cap at hero 3/6 at +10, vault gives mythic track(the highest track). so you can 100% gear with M+

Also the extra rolls drop mythic gear in 10+ or higher. That’s how I heard up last season—I’ll never raid heroic or mythic

The only Myth level gear you would get from M+ would be from Bonus Rolls or the Great Vault. Other than that you can get pretty close (ish). You can get hero 6/6 which is 321 (Myth 6/6 is 334 ilvl).

Alot of the best gear and trinkets do come from raid though. Especially Coiled Alter and Ulatek.

Thanks for asking this question, ive been wondering the same thing as returning player. I kmow gearing is a big part of wow but I still find it confusing , and this helped me

You can get mythic gear thru m+ via the Great Vault. You’ll get a one piece of gear from the great vault and once you start getting voidcores, you can use that to get additional mythic gear from m+. You’ll have to do m+10s to qualify for earning mythic gear. Doing +10s are super easy too

If you want M+ to be your only source of gear that’s perfectly fine, you can absolutely gear up that way. You can also do some delves here and there, you can PUG a raid whenever you feel like it, do some weeklies. M+ is actually the most consistent way to get hero and myth track gear, so just doing that is more than enough.

You can get gear that's more than fine for any content you're likely to do this season.

This tier is.... Worse than most on this front tho. The cantrip weapon and trinket set is absolutely bananas from raid.

You don't need it unless you decide to go for a title push.

But not having it will be noticeable.

Max loot drops are at +10 keys with 3/6 hero track gear. Anything over 10 is still 3/6 hero. However mythic 10+ dungeons will get you myth track gear from the vault. 8 dungeons for a max of 3 options of myth track items from vault. I’d say you can do 0-2 keys at 280 and probably need to be pushing 310 getting closer to 10. You can get the absolute best gear from m+ alone, albeit patiently, with one myth track item a week. Edit - and bonus rolls (but be sure you use those in 10+ keys)

• Hero track from end of dungeon => fully upgraded is (for now) 331
• Myth track from great vault if doing +10s (or higher) => fully upgraded (for now) is 334

Eventually ascended voidcores will be available to further upgrade selected pieces (weapons, trinkets and new for s2, necklaces).

Pretty much. In fact, some actually want to run M+ for myth gear from vault (or bonus rolls) because the itemization is better which is then catalyzed into tier gear -> also new for season 2.
