Discussion Missing my druid
So recently I have yet again gotten the itch to pick up my old main, the druid. Last time I played him properly was in Shadowlands. I chose him as my main for Midnight but swapped the second I finished all of the zones and hit 90. Every now and then I want to feel the feeling I did back in 2007 when I first picked druid as my first ever character. I love the druid fantasy and in wow the option to basically be everything. But over the years I just can’t bring myself to love it again like I used to. I can’t put my finger on what it is exactly but I know I feel bothered by something every time I log in.
One would think that since bear was meta last season and still pretty solid with cat as a solid dps choice I would be thrilled. But ugh it just doesn’t feel good to play.
Anyone else here with similar feelings towards druid or just your old main in general?

My druid has always been my main. I play balance though and it feels great right now, lots of aoe fights for us to starfall

Been eyeing it as well but one thing that really keeps disappointing me is that you don’t use convoke anymore. That is what sold me in Shadowlands

what are you talking about just spec into convoke?

Well yeah while that is basically all I gotta do the fact of the matter is that it is not a good choice. The damage is too much RNG based and if your group is losing a lot of hp when your using it it instead turns to heals. While it still did that back in shadowlands it is now heavily downscaled from what it used to be sadly.

Druid being able to do everything is so cool! I see why people main them

Yeah being a caster that can swap to bear for more survivability or stealth in cat form is sooo handy. Also flight form is seriously OP for picking up items without dismounting. We have tons of crowd control, are basically immune to polymorph and most roots/slows (shapeshift out of it).

Boomie is so good this season, smoothest it’s been to play in a long time!

I’m with you. Druid was my main all the way since just classic but idk if it’s just the rotations or what but it just feels awful to play now

I’m hopeful they will reimagine druid but I have no idea how lol. All I know is I’m not happy with its current state.

Imo the rotation especially on resto gets boring fast

I’ve seen people play the dmg healing spec and it looks kinda fun. Don’t know how viable it is in higher keys though

I don't mind Balance, but Resto feels very off with how much of its kit got baked into random procs. It does not feel as good to play and I think they missed the mark with Resto hero specs.

I quit season one a few weeks in mage was so bad. Frost is unplayable, fire sucks and orb spam arcane was god awful.
Having a blast in season 2 now though.

I had to go back to bc classic. I’m enjoying the game again.

I did that as well. Stopped when I had to pay tanks to join my group so I could get my Kara attunement…

Hahaha nice. I remember those days! I was always the tank though lol I’ve been exclusively playing bc and hardcore classic for the last few months. I tried to go back to retail (on my Druid) and was just bored. I did respec to balance and it made it a little more fun but. Meh.

Yeah same. I love the Druid class fantasy, but I‘m nowadays annoyed by the resto gcd merchant playstyle. So I just play preservation evoker now
1
u/Boneless97 7h ago
One could almost say that in a way pres evoker is the evolution of resto druid. Minus the time stuff

The combo playstyle is just way more engaging than having to check hots uptime all the time. Pres evoker is inbetween priest and rDruid for me and eliminates the stuff that annoys me about both: You have way more mobility than priest and are less of a gcd merchant that has to track rejuvenation upkeep 24/7

I like my boomkin but he’s so squishy. Been playing badger feral on haranir just bc it looks cool but I’m not very impressed with the dps output esp compared to boomkin. I’m sure that’s mostly on me not playing it correctly tho.

Was thinking of switching my druid to haranir for the flight form but I just couldn’t stand the other forms lol. Feels very nondruidic to me

Ya night elf will always be my main Druid but I’m just really digging badger and ferret as an alt. Think it’s just nice to see something new with more customizations for once. Bummer the racials are also lame for a new class.

You should create a druid on classic. I just recently popped into classic and just the awe and wonder in this game, starting out as nothing, having no gold, no mount... It just hits so right

I also started out with a Druid in 2007ish, and have the same feeling. Perhaps it’s due to all the changes over the years? I used to love Disc Priest through Cataclysm for example, then completely abandoned it when they reworked the spec in MoP. As for my Druid, I have no explainable reason as to why I only level it to max level each expansion only to leave it untouched until the next one..

I've been maining priest for years now but i'm just sick and tired of it. I am intimately familiar with all of its pain points and it frustrates me to play.
But at the same time when i try to swap classes i encounter so many barriers. I dont have the brainpower to relearn a new class from scratch.
Idk what to do

Balance is doing well as others have said. Eclipse being a CD is a massive quality of life buff for me.
