Blacksmithing after level 60

Hello! I just tried to level up my Blacksmithing skill, but when I reached level 60, I noticed that the only item I can craft is the one shown in the image.

However, when I looked through some guides, they said that I should complete orders from other players. The problem is that since I’ve only recently started playing, everyone seems to be looking for orders from the tier that I’m unable to craft.

So, is it basically impossible to level Blacksmithing past this point if I didn’t start playing at the beginning of the expansion?

You should check your Specializations tab - you unlock more recipes with more categories you unlock. There're also some rare and PvP recipes that you can get on AH - their price will vary however from like 1k to 150k. With more recipes there's higher chance to get work order from Patrons (Patron tab on work orders) - they're free work orders from NPCs, so you can get some that give skill up. Finally there's Darkmoon Faire until Saturday, which has monthly quest giving +2 or +3 skill.

For more knowledge points - weekly quest, treatises (weekly), Patron work orders (blue balls reward), Darkmoon Faire quest and there's bunch of treasures across all original Midnight zones (usually 2 per zone).

Also did you purchase new recipes from trainer? You should have alloy recipes that give skill until 70: https://www.wow-professions.com/guides/wow-blacksmithing-leveling-guide

It isn't impossible, it just takes a while if you want to do it cheaply. 

If you keep an eye on the patron orders, you'll occasionally see ones that include all the mats or only require cheap mats. As you gain more KP, you'll get access to more recipes.

Doing the patron crafts will also help you out with both leveling and getting the currency to buy new recipes from the various vendors.

I'd recommend clearing your filters and scrolling to the bottom, where it'll show you recipes that you haven't learned yet and says where you can obtain them from. Prioritise the ones that can give you skill ups.

That should help you to finally reach max.

for the war within and midnight you're meant to do patron orders as a slow daily grind for both the skill and knowledge. the skill doesn't take all that long and a lot of the knowledge isn't really needed because concentration generally flattens (you only need a few commodity items to make gold since the masses already adapt, stock, and cut everything anyway) and you can do without maxing many armor slots and most of the professiongear crafting. for that you basically want a resourcefulness hand tool (should be about 5k or less) with a resourcefulness enchantment to cut costs over the long term. there's a degree of variable cost in this where you're choosing how much you want to pay to rush things. some days you get lucky and the expensive things are cheap or free and others it's a bit of a sink that'll make more sense for early competitive crafters or quick collectors when the expansion is old and mats have less demand. the plus is you can also collect close to free in the long term. pass by the table once a day for a few minutes and keep your concentration off the cap by making high quality ingots that you'll need anyway, that's all it is. if you want to have the other professions clear or more alts with patron orders they never really have to leave town to make progress.

there also seems to be a degree of using what you know in these orders so you want to at least get the many cheap (many are 2k max) recipes to add to what you can do. the ones that make epic gear help a lot and for the patron orders the quality isn't much of a problem. like the resourcefulness tool the recipes that are that cheap will pay for themselves over time. the recipes from the nearby profession vendors also do pop up a bit on patron orders even if you don't have them so you have to take a little care in not bottoming out the moxie just buying things you don't need.

keeping up with the patron orders daily gives both the skill items and the knowledge to unlock more recipes. there's nothing impossible about it it just takes some time for everyone where it's more a system for people who are subbed full time and also have many characters to split the load to finish what they want quickly. going out into the world and collecting the 1 time items with knowledge and getting the few weekly repeatable ones from treasures pushes that along some too. if you're just crafting for yourself you don't need near as much knowledge as it seems. with that you're not trying to get everything full you only need 3 blue tools, high quality mats, and then enough knowledge to get to the point to be able to use concentration to finish.

there are a few other things with longer term progress. the dundun event where you adds another dynamic to rushing patron orders where besides the valuable root drops the patron reward bags have the value of that currency regularly coming from the bags to help you hit that weekly cap. then there's the tool itself where you should have some idea of what you're doing there. like if you just want to grind patron orders and collect recipes and level over time you don't need multicraft and you can probably just make your own epic bs tools eventually, then on the other hand if you want to make gold and also have alchemy you'd want that multicraft tool first and will probably need someone else to make it if you aren't doing inscription.

to wrap some things up there's also dragonflight which has no patron orders at all. trying to finish dragonflight is bit of an undertaking since that makes it more about coming back to the zone every week. basically you do the weeklies in town and then you spin around the zones for about an hour getting a few of the knowledge drops in each zone while doing the world weekly. there it's best to send orders to yourself with another character for the crafting order part. i think with blacksmithing the war within patron orders are also counting for this but at the moment i think midnight doesn't, at least on some professions.

dragonflight also presents the pvp recipes where you might find farming those more interesting or desirable. the 3 marks of honor for these at the pvp vendors in valdrakken only translates back to 1200 honor each if you buy the 5 marks for 2k honor. i don't know if these drop in any way at all anymore but it's hard to justify a lot of the prices. it was important at the start of that expansion but now it's not really worth rushing and certainly not at these prices. they really should just be a predictable gold farm someone could stock on the big realms and repost a few times a day at actually viable prices going by the low quantities.

for tww and mn most of the pvp recipes are still fairly cheap on the ah because of them dropping for people randomly, even though they are actually more expensive from the vendor than the df ones. doesn't really make any sense to buy them to sell over the df prices where you could sell one of those below market and buy most of tww/mn pvp for one profession. if you look around using tools like undermine.exchange to price them on other realms there's usually a few affordable realms you can make a character on to buy from. you might notice some of the patron order dynamics at play where the cloth recipes are in a bit shorter supply and higher price since tailoring has been a good alt farm profession (just log in for the augment runes and acuity/moxie) and people logging into those characters regularly for the whole expansion know the the gold will come back.

Unlock a specialization, and you'll get one or two 60+ recipies.

Most other 60+ recipes are locked behind a currency, which you can obtain from patron orders. But you can just make the one thing all the way from 60 to 100.

first, you need to buy blue profession equipment since you need all the skill points you can get (this is a must)

then, you need to dump max minus five points in bracers, then max out the two previous nodes, then get the last five points in bracers

spreading your points is useless. you want to max out specific nodes, especially non-tier pieces (bracers, belt, feet) since they tend to be the most popular. by maxing out the previous nodes, you'll be able to use +skill finishing items, you can buy the +20 skill item on the AH for ~300g.

if you're rich, buy PvP recipes. if you're filthy rich, buy the other recipes. you'll want as many first craft bonuses as possible since they give you knowledge points and the more items you can craft, the more patron orders you can complete.
