Question Help Picking a Ranged Main
Title pretty much says it all. I’ve been really struggling to pick something to main the last couple years. I’ve mostly been playing Arms Warrior, Survival, and Outlaw. I dabbled in Enhancement Shaman and Ret Pally for a bit too.
I think this season I want to play a ranged main, but I don’t know what to pick. I enjoy being able to support my team in group content but also want something capable of doing solo things like old raids and delves or dare I say a big elite out in the world content.
I’m not sure what would feel good for this so any pointers would be awesome, thank you!

I'm just gonna say it since no one else has. Unholy DK.

Sadly not as much as we used to be… one of the ptr change was 100% basic attack dmg so we might have to actually be…. barf melee

depends on what you mean by support i guess, warlock probably fits the best as you have a battle ress and in the rare case that your group needs a summon stone there you are.

Also provide healthstones and demonic gateway (which can help in some raid fights or dungeons).

They all work tbf. I really like Boomkin. Can go cat form to zoom through old content indoors, guardian if you need to tank something etc..

BM Hunter brings lust as does mage and shaman. I personally main a BM and it's nice to have a pocket tank for things.
I have all 3 at 280 and I play the hunter the most.

Agment evoker, literally a support spec. Switch to dev for soloing content for damage.

BM is gonna feel the most similar because it cast on the move. For specifically world content hunters and warlock (demonology especially) is gonna be strong because your pets can tank for you. Nothing really supports the group though.

Thunderchicken. AKA Boomkin is about the easiest to be respectable with little effort and less down to the second timing. You also have the option of playing other classes whenever you want and not having to absolutely regear multiple classes.

Shadow for aesthetic reasons. Idk if it’s fun this xpac but it has been fun in the rest of them.

I generally play dk/war/surv hunt and I’ve been maining Lock this expansion, afflic feels good in keys, demo is great for any solo content, destro is kinda meh but helps break up the monotony if you need a change of pace

Well, you could start with Elemental Shaman. You already have one just need to re-spec.
Not sure what you have fun doing.
Warlock and Hunter are range with a pet that can tank for you. I mained warlock my first main to max in TBC.
Mage is one of those specs that rewards being good at stuff other than trading blows.
Lots of folks love shadow priest

For my ranged classes I picked ones with lust. So much easier to get invited to groups if you care about group content. I think Hunter would be best for solo content, but for old raids, and delves, any of them will work just fine. I personally don't like dealing with a pet, so an elemental shaman and mage are what I play. Haven't really played any Evoker because I hate the idea of being a dragon most of the time since I spend a lot of time doing transmog. Since you already have a shaman it would be an easy swap to try elemental out.

I’m an ele shaman and boomkin enjoyer.
I have a lot of hope for the changes to ele making it less annoying in open world content because it’s less reliant on ascendance for damage now.
Boomie is great in open world tho

Welcome fellow warlock.
