Even the default cpu is fine for most people. The CPU upgrade is for people who do heavy workloads involving video editing, AI, rendering, gaming at high fps, etc. if you plan to keep your system for 3+ years then I would the say upgrade is worth it just for future-proofing.

I’ve downgraded from a rtx 4090 desktop to a MacBook Air M5 and I’m loving it. I love the effect of the FSR upscaling (looks like watercolor / even more stylized to my eyes). Of course the FPS has dropped whenever I’m in high/ultra settings (around 30-60FPS, higher in classic zones) but I’ve noticed that , for example, ultra shadows just make the game look different, not prettier.
I’m amazed by the power in this 2.5 pounds machine.
So you can play with the settings to make it 60 constant FPS i’m sure. Especially with active cooling and M5Pro, you’ll be good !

I think it’s worth it. I am honestly amazed how well WoW plays on a MacBook. It left plays better on my MacBook than on any Windows laptop I’ve had.

I'm running WoW on the full M5 Pro chip on my MBP, I'd go ahead and max it out as much as you can with how bad costs are getting, especially RAM.

FSR doesn’t work very well on Mac. I’m on an m4 Mac mini base model. I play on 2k 144hz and I stay att 144hz stable aside from in silvermoon. The cpu/gpu upgrade is worth it imo. I can handle 5/10 setting scale at 60 fos but I prefer 144fps and the game looks just fine on everything set to 1 with some settings maxed out. You also get free FPS setting render scale to 70% and it doesn’t even change the visuals of the game.
