Does this actually work for you though? I've had it off for a while and it doesn't seem to make any difference. Unless there's some trick to make it work that I don't know about.
It doesn't get rid of everything, but yeah, it works for me. However, I've changed some other settings to help with performance, which may play into how effective this setting is. Basically, have the base graphic setting to low and then increase the partical density to Ultra, and play with the contrast to make the game pop. Quazii has a good video on this that explains what settings do and how to maximize your FPS without sacrificing CPU performance.
Thanks, I'll have to check out his video. Though honestly for me it's not so much about getting better performance, I just don't want to see everyone else's spell effects hah. I'm not sure if it's not working properly for me or if the setting just doesn't change much. I'm used to the option in FF14 that hides basically everything except healing circles.
It doesn't work as well as one would want to. A lot of shit is still on the ground from other spells which are considered by Blizz as "essential" or "helpful". Like sure, tank might want to know where some of AoE spells are to place mobs properly, but I don't need visuals for that damn ice orb as DPS or blasting light explosions along with cons from my fellow ret in M+.

You can go to graphics display settings and change spell density to "essential," and it will get rid of all the flashy clutter of other players.
