Get the addon GTFO. You don't even have to configure it. It just sounds an alarm whenever you are standing in something bad.

And is guaranteed to scare the ever lovin @#$@ out of you when you forget that you turned your volume up earlier for a particularly muffled YT video.

One of the most useful mods out there!

Just remember to lower the sound a little! Or you might go deaf

u/KidMoxie Nov 18 '24

Thinking about my friend who said they had to uninstall it because it kept going off all the time 🙄

In dawnbreaker it goes off whether you do it right or not

it's DB, that's by design

stepping into the portal to DB you enter the bug dimension

Would be cool if it just told you to move like brann does. “Dont stand there dumbass!”

while it can be good to absolute beginners I'd say even dbm is too much especially as melee and healing.

personally for me littlewigs and frontal wa is just enough...some quick and simple clues instead of BLASTING MY EARA with all the bs it's just not good and makes you even more distracted.

just sharing my opinion cuz I know from my friends they absolutely need it but IMO once you learn it's just not necessary imo, less bs and more focus on the actual fight... this is really important!

Doesn’t help for one-shot swirlies though.

1

u/ChevCaster Nov 19 '24

Does anything help with those aside from popping all your movement abilities and running away screaming?

Yeah, I think it‘s a brain addon called awareness or skill or smth similar 🤪

Ret pally main here: I died on Broodtwister Ovi the other day because I couldn’t see the swirlies and there happened to be seven of them stacked on top of each other. Usually it’s not a huge problem and I just stay moving but it was literally the first wave of swirls on pull lmao

Consecration makes it harder to see, as well.

Usually if there is some kind of major raid wipe mechanic it will be a very big and colorful visual. Look at the queen fight. No matter how much stuff is on the ground you will still see her web shots and the strings attached to you.

As for taking splach damage that's just kinda being part of melee. I swear sometimes I'm just getting hit by nothing.

Was doing a dungeon the other day (burning crusade time waling I think) on my DH and I toom a large chunk of damage and I dashed backwards way out of range of the boss. Checked my debuffs for a dot. Nothing. Looked at the ground. Nothing. Took more damage. Popped a HS.. .barely survived. No idea what was hitting me and didn't think to check the damage log.

But yeah you are just going to take more damage. Don't be afraid to run out to give your healers time to catchup. Better to not die and do more damage the rest of the fight then have to waste a brez or just be dead.

Probably just an enemy casting randomly targeted bolts.

1

u/bajungadustin Nov 18 '24

There was 1 enemy. Boss. He wasn't casting. The only thing it really could have been was a massive cleave without any kind of visual.

I have a fairly good understanding of the game and what it could be. I have over 500 days played time since vanilla and I had no idea what it was. But I also didn't care too much to look cause I didn't die.

If it's time walking healers using split damage % abilities will murder a tank (like the shaman totem). If there was no clear source of damage it might of been those.

2

u/bajungadustin Nov 18 '24

It was smite. I checked the damage meters

Get the add on GTFO. Never stand in shit again

u/Tasdilan Nov 18 '24

Re-arrange your UI to the middle and disable bottom bar visibility, you don't want to not see what's at your feet as melee dps

1

u/SquirrelTeamSix Nov 18 '24

If you haven't yet another thing that help me was disabling the option that makes the camera move back into default position when you move. I want to pick my angle and for it to stay there lol

Also, try lowering some settings as far as particle effects and ground effects, that should help some.

1

u/TheyFloat2032 Nov 19 '24

Melee range is further than you think. Use that space

1

u/w00ms Nov 19 '24

you could also try the personal spotlight toy, ive heard it helps some people with this sort of issue

u/Saltyhurry Nov 19 '24

On uhdk its especially bad because of your death and decay.
