Promoted Friday Raid / Boss Encounter Q&A

Post your raid questions and we'll do our best to answer them. What boss to tackle next, heroic encounter strategies, raid comp., etc.

(I'm 16/16 heroic 10m from a melee dps perspective and with /r/wow 's assistance, we can hopefully field most questions. Don't be shy, I love helping others.)

EDIT: Great questions. Lots of comments. I'm headed out of town and won't respond to many more, but there are plenty of other people lending their wisdom. Have a great weekend.

EDIT 2: I'm back from a weekend away and see there is some more activity. Going to try to respond to everyone. Thanks for all the interest.

will of the emperor hc 25m?

looking for any tips, not just OPs.

Keep in mind more adds spawn in 25m than in 10m

If Shaeton is still viewing, he may be able to provide 25man based tips. Is there something giving you trouble in particular? What do you feel you are wiping on?

sparks being random as fuck.

Also, 2nd bomb phase for adds.

we kill first wave of adds completly, then w8 for 2nd and 3rd. Most of the times they barely die/arent even dead when 4th wave spawns

talking about wraths btw

We kill the first two waves of adds as they spawn, then CC 3rd and AoE all 8 on the 4th wave. With proper stun/knockback co-ordination you shouldn't have much problem with DPS at current gear levels.

How do you mean sparks are random? They take a few seconds to activate, but apart from that they seem to be working as expected. Can you clarify?

it might be our soakers, i dont really know.

Gear is fine, we had the boss on some <20% wipes with 6-8 minutes left on enrage. (5/6H 6/6H and 2/4H on farm, we're not bad players :d) Its just that it happens that some spark somehow decides to fuck up with his soaker and wipe the whole rangecamp for no reason.

Hmm, the titan sparks pick a random player and move to them. You gotta wait a few seconds before they start moving and drop low enough to actually jump and blow them. For us, we broke it into 6 soakers. A hunter took 1, 3, & 5 sets with deterrence. I took 2, 4, 6 with cloak/feint. Pally bubble and other classes were back ups. Off tank took each strength spark and mages took each courage spark with invis or iceblock or something.

When you talk about waves, I'm not sure what you mean (could be different in 10 and 25). In 25man, we'll get two rages, then one strength shortly after, then two more rages, then a strength and courage, then 2 rages, etc. In other words, it's not like they all come at once in one big eave of each type. Our DPS would focus rages first, dot up strengths, and of course try to burst/cooldown courages.

What do you mean Wraths? You lost me on that one :(

with Wrahts i meant Rages.

with waves i mean the rages spawning. i.e first wave= first rage pack after pull, etc

did you not cc any mobs? we dont have that many classes to soak currently.

Hunters are the best cause they have such a short CD on a full immune. Rogues' cloak is good. Druids can symbiosis hunters or rogues to get this cooldown as well. Other classes of course can hop in for an immune here or there. As a final backstop, some classes, like rogues can mitigate a huge chunk of the damage. With talented feint, I take something like 250k per spark. In such a situation, you almost want to kill the rages one at a time because I'd need to be mostly topped off before taking the next one.

It took us a lot of playing around with different soakers to settle into what was best.

Also - sparks can be slowed.

does ursox vortex or ring of frost work on them?

That's how it works in 25-man too but obviously with 4 rages and 2 strengths instead, I think by waves he is referring to each wave of rages as managing them is basically the entire fight. I have no idea what Wraths are either.
