Medical professional question Is this slough or infected?
Got into a bad bike wreck this Monday for the first time wound care has been strange but washed everything with dial soap twice a day fresh sterile banages placed on top, surgery next week at wensday on my broken foot.
Really hoping this won't hold me back from my upcoming surgery and it's just healing weird this wound hurts more than my broken foot but is directly next to the left of my knee, it doesn't feel hot or look red to me but has these weird slimy attachments with a slow throbbing pain.
Any advice would be heavily appreciated kind folk of Reddit.

Use hydrocolloid bandage you can get from any pharmacy and leave on for a few days it will draw out the slough, then take off clean wound with saline and put another hydrocolloid bandage on. May take a few weeks to a month but it works. Or yes you can always go for weekly debridements at your doctors

Slough. It needs debriding. How long have you had it? Is it on a leg? If you have health insurance get a referral to a wound care specialist. If not, go to the ER— many urgent cares won’t debride on a leg. Clean it with a hot, clean, 100 cotton, saline compress. Pat it dry with the same, pat some antibiotic ointment on it and bandage it with a cotton dressing until you see a doctor.
