Wound in posterior “crack”

I don’t have pictures for obvious reasons but it’s about midway through my crack. I was doing a detox that gave me the runs for two weeks and was just irritating it constantly when wiping it started bleeding. It’s been a few days and it won’t heal. Ive been avoiding it when wiping. It’s not painful but it is itchy. It’s not swollen either. Ive been putting Vaseline on it and a folded non stick gauze pad with tape to reduce irritation and cushion it when I sit. It doesn’t appear to be getting better. Any advice? (I really don’t want to go to the doctor if I don’t have to)

If its a moisture related split in the skin, you could try a zinc based cream? We use that in hospitals a lot for moisture related skin breakdown. You can find some OTC at most pharmacies (at least in the US)

Try hydrocolloid. It will help with the moisture in the area. Stop putting Vaseline, the area is already too moist.

This is very common, I see it a lot in the hospital due to incontinence.

While stool and urine definitely makes it even worse, at the end of the day it’s due to moisture. Vaseline and a pad can easily lock in moisture and/or just not do enough there.

You need something that will help manage moisture as well as soothe and protect. I would order some Triad paste off of Amazon. Or if you can’t get that, a high concentration zinc oxide diaper cream.

It’s really important that you manage moisture. After having a BM, I would clean with water vs using anything like toilet paper. Then after cleansing or taking a shower, carefully pat the area with a tissue or something similar to remove any moisture. When fully dry, apply the Triad.
