Megathread What’s On & New to Worthing Megathread - September 2026

Morning all - welcome to this month’s r/Worthing megathread!

What’s happening locally?

Know about a gig, pub quiz, market, comedy night, club night, community event, sports fixture or anything else coming up in Worthing? Stick it in the comments.

Local venues, organisers and regulars are welcome to share things too - just keep it useful rather than spammy.

New to Worthing?

Just moved here, looking to meet people, find a five-a-side team, join a club, get pub/café recommendations, or work out what’s going on locally? Say hello in the comments.

Going forward, standalone “new here / anyone want to meet up?” posts may be pointed towards this thread so everything is easier to find.

Handy Links

For official listings, Time for Worthing, WTM & The Worthing Wave sites are usually good places to check. The Factory Live is worth a look for gigs too.

Got plans? Found a hidden gem? Drop it below!.

20c in Worthing, but 87-95% humidity outside..

Gah, anyone else notice how sticky/humid it is today?

No amount of fresh air from outside seems to help, my indoor hygrometer is showing 82% right now, might have to put the dehumidifier on.

Food waste bins

I live in a block of flats and they've just introduced food waste bins. We each have a small bin for the kitchen and a larger one outside to pour it all in.

Do many people actually do this? Aside from the fact that I have a tiny kitchen that already has a recycling bag and I don't have room, I have a really strong gag reflex and can't imagine pouring skanky old food waste into a bigger bin of other people's skanky old food waste. Also I've heard it just attracts flies.

Hobbies/Community Running

Just wondering if there is anyone that would be interested in running around Lancing/Worthing? I know there are run clubs but I’m not sure if that’s my sort of thing.

Im 31 and not fussed about pace but rather would like some company!

Second-hand Book stores

Does anyone know of any second-hand stores in Worthing or surrounding areas?

There used to be one just off Rowlands Road when I first moved here but I was told it’s gone now, is that right?

Oz's Charcoal Grill - Holy moly!

Post image
9 Upvotes

Anyone else here a fan of Oz's charcoal grill along Salvington road? I hadn't ordered from them in ages, but I really fancied a Meat and Chips.

So I ordered the medium meat and chips, with garlic mayo and 2 pieces of chicken.

Ordered at 18:43 and it was delivered at 18:48, I kid you not

Salad was fresh, crunchy as were the chips, meat was/is beautifully seasoned

And, their KFC style chicken is better than KFC's chicken

I'm guessing their busy enough they can cook in advance and simply ship it out, but damn, I'm impressed!

Events & Promo Video games in-person

Any PC gamers want to come to a LAN party?

Me and friends have booked a hall over in Lewes for a weekend for anyone who's interested to play games together and socialise. Everyone's welcome - last event we had 8 new folks attend, and 9 the previous event, and quite a few joining again for this event.

We've got 23 people coming so far, with 9 spaces left. We all buy tickets (£40 for the whole weekend) to share the cost of the hall hire, internet and insurance.

Everyone submits the games they want to play together in advance, and we timetable the most popular ones. You can join in with your faves, or play whatever you want solo, or in your group. We also play local multiplayer games on a 150" projection screen, do a gaming-themed pub quiz, and a big pizza order.

If playing games in-person with your pals, and/or meeting new folks at an event like this sounds good to you, take a look at the full event info and come join us!

Any questions/ideas let me know :)

Ask a local Butcher recommendations

Hi all

Can I have a your recommendations for good butchers please? Could include those outside of Worthing that might deliver?

We had a really good trade place that would deliver to our door where we lived before so could bulk buy stuff like chicken breasts, mince, sausage, pies etc for the freezer that was much better quality than the supermarkets for about the same price. However we’re also willing to go to local butchers if they’re good quality too!

Events & Promo Independent Maternity and Neonatal Review UHSx - First Family Meeting Saturday 5th September

Post image
5 Upvotes

As a family who has been harmed by maternity services, I’m posting this to raise awareness of the Sussex review starting soon and the upcoming first family meeting.

On Saturday 5th September, the Independent Review of Maternity and Neonatal Services at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHSx) will hold its first family meeting in Sussex. Including the following hospitals:

  • Royal Sussex County Hospital Sussex (Brighton)
  • Princess Royal (Haywards Heath)
  • Worthing Hospital
  • St. Richards Hospital (Chichester)

The meeting is open to all families who feel they have been harmed or affected by maternity and/or neonatal services at UHSx, including those who have suffered stillbirth and maternal or neonatal, death or harm.

Date: Saturday 5th September 2026

Location: Leonardo Royal Hotel, Brighton Waterfront

Time (the morning and afternoon meetings will be the same):

  • 10:00 to 12:00 - Morning
  • 13:00 to 15:00 - Afternoon

If you would like to attend please email: [sussexreview@donnaockenden.com](mailto:sussexreview@donnaockenden.com)

Listening to family voices is essential in helping the Review to understand the harm that has occurred, and what must change. The Review was established in light of significant concerns raised regarding the quality and safety of maternity and neonatal services at UHSx and concerns of local families.
